My Rating: 4/5

I was surprised that this book had so much to do with memory loss and looking back on the first two books. But I think it was the best way Becca Fitzpatrick could have tackled book three. In most series that I have read there is a down hill point, but these books have just about stayed in the same rating range. I think that this book was surprising in many ways, not only do we see Nora become a strong character, but the setting and her life changes quickly. I think that was the right way to go so there isn’t too much of a lead up but plenty of surprises. The only thing I didn’t like was how long it took for her to figure out some of the characters roles, I guess this is because we got to read about them in Crescendo while she has lost her memory.

Spoiler: Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

I actually wasn’t expecting how this book would be laid out, which for me made it that much more interesting. I loved that Nora lost her memory and she had to replay some of it with Patch, I only wish it hadn’t token so long for her to realize that Jev and Patch were the same person. It seemed like that part went on forever as I was yelling at my book. I did enjoy seeing Patch’s house, I was surprised that he had such nice taste, I thought it would be kind of  messy in a college/teenage boy kinda way but I guess being as old as he was he got over that stage already.

Characters:

Nora: I was impressed that she stood up for what she believed in this time and didn’t just stand back and wait for Patch to rescue her over and over. She at least tried to take matters into her own hands. I didn’t like that she was so trusting with Scott and I think he double crossed her, but in the end if she hadn’t trusted Scott she probably wouldn’t have trusted Patch. I was the most mad that she just assumed that Hank was really just with her mom. Of course he wasn’t he is a dirt bag!

Patch: I really love this guy. Maybe it’s the mystery, or the way he makes jokes about serious things and is a huge flirt. But he’s definitely one of the best male main characters I have read about. Maybe because I’m a sucker for romance. I don’t know call me pathetic, but he just makes me smile. I don’t know how

Hank: I hate him. The fact that he uses both of his daughters to help create his army is horrible and means that he isn’t really a father at all, really I’d just call him a donor. He really didn’t deserve to live and I’m happy that Nora shot him, I thought she was going to just lock him up, and judging by his strength that wouldn’t work. Btw, I’m just wonder, who in the hell does their own blood transfusion with their daughter? That’s just messed up!

Scott: I have little doubt in my mind that he double crossed Nora to try and help his race. I can’t say I blame him. If my body was getting possessed and miss used perhaps for 2 weeks I doubt I would be too thrilled about that.

Vee: What a horrible liar? I mean, I know she was trying to protect Nora from Patch, but friends shouldn’t lie to each other. At all!

My Rating: 3/5

I really expected more from this book. I thought that it would make my heart race and lead me to experience something I hope to never experience but in reality it just wasn’t what I wanted to read about. There were so many issues with each character it took so much time to sort out what was happening with everything that I found myself dissecting the story line it’s self and realizing that this just isn’t a book for people like me. I just found that by taking my psychology course I learned much of the same thing. The best part of this book for me was probably how therapy was incorporated with the story itself. I did enjoy how each character was complex I just wonder if maybe they’re too complex in one short novel.

As I said in the book review, this wasn’t the book that I was expecting and in honesty I didn’t like it. It seemed like all the character where trying to have their story told when really I was trying to read about Anna, not Jason, or Seth although they are interesting and play a role. I think there should be a limit to your main character amount so you don’t have to take so much time dissecting everything. I also didn’t really care for some of the events, they weren’t life changing and all in all they didn’t really make a difference to the story line.

Characters:

Anna: I was happy when she finally realized that she needed help. Panic attacks are nothing to be ashamed of but they do need treatment. No one is going to look down on you after such a traumatic event for going into therapy, and if they do they’re not worth knowing. I think that she found who she really was and that’s the only reason I kept reading.

Jack: He didn’t react the way I thought he would until he’s at the party bawling his eyes out. Which he has a right too. I do wonder if he really loved Cameron or if he’s more upset because he realized he missed his chance too really love her. Wish we heard more about that!

Ellen: Wow does this chicky have a drinking problem or what? I think the accident only made it worse which doesn’t really make sense at all because she was drunk that night.

Jason: I figured he was gay as he didn’t deny it and that he just was nice to generally everyone. Seems like a decent guy.

Seth: He isn’t anyone’s dream guy since the sweetest thing he does is buy her roses and then they fool around. I find their relationship confusing and non lasting.

Anna’s Dad: Anger management should be mandatory for jerks like this. I understand that you’re trying to protect your kids, but you’ve seriously messed them up mentally.

Anna’s Mom: She needs to be more assertive and just know that hey, my husband shouting and screaming all the time isn’t ever ok or appropriate, especially in a public place.

Cameron: Why do we barely hear about her, except in passing by conversation and a few brief memories? Shouldn’t she be more of a focus?

My Rating: 4.5/5

I really didn't know that this book would be from Adam's perspective, but I couldn't imagine it any other way. This book isn't your average sequel. It's about figuring out that who you are now isn't who you're going to be for the rest of your life. I love that everything has changed since the last book so it's like exploring a whole new novel. The setting was fantastic, and I loved the flashbacks  I realized that Gayle Forman is not afraid to be real (she let's her main character swear!) and I think that's important so the reader can feel a part of the book. The only reason this book wasn't a ten, is that I got upset with people constantly changing their mind, it wasn't suspense... it was annoying.

Spoiler: Where She Went by Gayle Forman

This is one of the most exceptional sequels I have ever read. I was surprised that the author took such a different take to writing this book as opposed to the first novel, If I Stay. I was impressed that carrying on the story three years later and from a different perspective wasn't a challenge for her. She wrote it like a different book, but with some of the same characters we feel in love with in the first one. I also loved the way the reader is given a tour of New York with Mia. The only thing I didn't like was Adam being completely indecisive.

Characters:
Adam- I loved him from If I Stay, and I'm ecstatic that the author lets us explore more about him. His flashbacks are amazing! He is proof that fame can make you crazy and sometimes celebrities are just like us. I'm happy that he doesn't just let Mia walk away from him, but mad that he's ok with her being mad. That's just silly. He doesn't just give up on life, even though he doesn't feel great without Mia he ends up being somewhat able to function in society.

Mia- I don't think she's really changed all that much, except that's she's mad that she lost her family and that Adam asked her to stay. I think she would have done better if they had just stayed together all along. I was so upset that she didn't even really end it, she just let him assume it was done. All in all they belong together and I'm happy they finally realized it!

Aldous- I think this is the one manager that actually cares about Adam, not just about the money. But I don't know much about the industry.

The Band- I feel bad for them, they seem to have given up on Adam and I understand why Mike gets mad because Adam is being an attention hog. I think that all of them could have handled it better and that in a way they're better off without Adam. If they find a new guitar player they will be fine.

Bryn- If Adam hates her so much... why is he with her?? She seems verbally abusive in all honesty.

Groupies- I was surprised that Adam let them fill Mia's place. I think that it was just to numb his pain.

My Rating: 4.5/5

This is the second book in the Hush, Hush series and I was happy that Becca Fitzpatrick wasn't afraid to go in a faster paced writing style, getting to the point with suspense, but not so I was bored. I was surprised to find that the characters had evolved so much and I was able to connect with them on a deeper level. The setting also seems to develop as the reader sees different parts of town. The best part of this book was without a doubt the suspense and the feeling of being watched throughout. I would suggest this book for anyone who enjoys romance, but is interested in a good mystery as well.

Spoiler: Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

This book was surprisingly better than the first one, which is opposite of what I usually find. I think that Becca Fitzpatrick had a better opportunity to explain some of the things going on with her characters and also explore and create a unique setting that I have never really thought of before. I guess that most paranormal books use a regular setting and then just integrate the oddness (possibly the most interesting thing I've ever said on this blog, but don't hold me to it.) and although the author did this she makes Nora's home town seem unique and I you never quite know what expect from it.

Characters:
Nora: I'm not going to lie, I was extremely mad at Nora on multiple occasions. She just seemed to be making uneducated guesses when it came to Patch and I understand that she wanted to know why he was hanging out with Marcie, but maybe she should have trusted him when he said it was nothing. In the end I think she realized that he wouldn't do that to her, he only did afterwards. Is it fair to say that I think everyone yelled at Nora at least a tiny bit?

Patch: I may be in love with him. More than a little bit. I think it's the way that even after Nora hurts him time and time again he tries his best to take care of her. I can't believe in the end they got caught though! I finally thought they'd be getting somewhere, but noooo. Stupid Black Hand!

Vee: I was sad that we didn't see as much with her in this book, because she spent so much time with Rixon, but she's still that one friend that makes everything way to dirty without even meaning to. My friend mentioned that she's like me, and I don't know if it's wrong, but I said thanks..

Rixon: About 3/4 of the way through I figured out that he was the problem. The way that he kept on telling stuff about Patch to Nora, which if he wasn't getting anything out of it would make him a horrible friend. I was surprised that he would do that to Patch and Vee too. I wonder if he was only going out with Vee to get to Nora? Poor, poor Vee.

Marcie: I know girls like this and I just want to kill her. She's rude and obnoxious. I was surprised that she might be sisters with Nora, but then I thought maybe she was adopted so she feels jealous of Nora. Hopefully that question gets answered in book 3.

Scott: I think him and Marcie belong together. i understand that he's scared and doesn't really understand what's going on with him but I think he could do a better job of keeping in a secret. It's frightening how he acts to his mother. I shivered actually when he spoke to her mind. CREEPY!

Hank: I figured that he was the Black Hand after a while because of the way we found out he was Nora's dad. It would make sense that he killed her adopted father because he was jealous or felt that he wasn't raising her right.

Book Review: Sapphique by Catherine Fisher

Meanwhile, Finn's oathbrother Keiro and his friend Attia are still trapped inside Incarceron. They are searching for a magical glove, which legend says Sapphique used to escape to find it, they must battle the prison itself, because Incarceron wants the glove too."

My Rating: 4/5

This is the sequel to the book Incarceron, and in all honesty I don't think it did the first book justice. It was an interesting way to continue, but the characters seemed less complex, and harder to understand at the same time. This could of course be of course because of the way we see so much more of Attia and Kerio still inside the prison. I found it interesting to learn of the other rules that took place on the outside. I think the reason that this book wasn't as good mainly is because Incarceron become the real main character. The setting was really important in this book and so I found it hard to connect.

Spoiler: Sapphique by Catherine Fisher

This book wasn't as good as I had hoped, but it was a solid 8 I'd say, or I did say in the book review above. I love the way that the setting because such a big deal, but the way that Incarceron itself became a main character was disjointed and confusing. The fact that it spoke to the to the prisoners made me wonder if it was in a male or female voice, and it doesn't really give you an answer to that, your just left to assume. I did like the way we got to see what Outside looks like without Protocol over it. I also liked how some of the characters reacted (Keiro).

Characters:
Attia: I didn't really notice her much in the first book, but in this one you don't have a choice but to notice her. She's far more brave and she isn't afraid to stand up to anyone in her way of getting Outside. It was shocking at the end when she almost chose to stay with Rix. I think that would have been stupid after all the work she put into finding an escape.

Keiro: I still find him to be arrogant  but in this book he's more funny than anything. I think after reading that he's a half-man it lets the reader understand him and give him more sympathy. I hope he doesn't screw up in the outside world as he did in the prison though.

Claudia: She is less prominent in this story, and the only time we really see is when she's deciding who she's going to back when the Pretender appears. She definitely chose right. I can't believe that she asks her father at the end if she chose right. Blah.

Finn/Giles: I really do believe that he turned out to be the real prince, and if he hadn't fought when he was unsure he would be dead, and the prison would never have been opened. Just to prove you should never stop believing in yourself.

Jared: The fact that he turned into Sapphique was confusing, but he made the right choice when he decided to free the prisoners. I hope he keeps the peace between Incarceron and the outside.

Rix: This is my far my favourite character. He is probably crazy and more than a little full of himself, but all and all ridiculous.

Queen Sia: I was so happy when she died. Is that wrong? Probably but she had let power go to her head, or in this case her face :P

Book Review: If I Stay by Gayle Forman

I'm not going to lie, I have read books a lot like this before and so I thought that it would be the same thing mainly, but I was shocked that although this book contains the same subject matter as say Between by Jessica Warman, it is in a category of it's own. This book made me laugh, cry and most importantly think. I thought about life and death more than I have throughout my whole life. This book questions who we are and who we want to be. I think that this book is ultimately to much compared with Twilight, I don't agree with that. If you hate Twilight that doesn't mean that you'll hate If I Stay. In fact, I think you'll enjoy it. It's a completely different concept. I love the suspense in this book. I can't wait to read the next book.

Spoiler: If I Stay by Gayle Forman

As I mentioned in the book review above, I thought that this book was going to be a struggle to get to but in fact it was the opposite. Everything about this book helps us realize how one day can change our lives from the way its written to how the chapters are divided by the time to help us realize how much time has gone by. The memories in this book help us see who Mia was and who she might be. I think that every book asks us a question. And this one asks, do we live our lives enough that if we had the choice we would keep living? We have no idea what happens after death or in a coma and so this makes this book far more realistic.

Characters:
Mia: We see the whole story play out from Mia's point of view, we witness her memories and everything that's happening in the hospital on this one crazy day. I think the most important part is seeing her struggle over the choice of life and death. She is unique and talented and at the end there is the impression that she chooses to give off, but I'm not sure. I wish and hope with all my heart that she stay.

Teddy: I cried so hard when I found that out that he didn't make it. He was so young and sweet, lost all because of a stupid accident.

Mia's Mom: She seems like the perfect feminist, stubborn form of mom. It's obvious in the memories that she wears the pants.

Mia's Dad: I thought it was so sweet how Mia seems to idolize her dad. He was such a sweet guy.

Kim: Being a good best friend isn't always easy but Kim sure seems to make it look easy. She and Mia have there differences but no matter what she sticks with Mia through everything (and I do mean everything). I hope if Mia doesn't make it that Kim leads an ok life.

Adam: The perfect boyfriend. He doesn't run away when things get tough and you can tell that he wants Mia to stay more than anything else in the world. He makes me cry in the part where he's whispering to Mia in the hospital. The belong together!
