My Rating: 9/10

I really liked this novel because of its theme. This book is mainly about mental illness and how to deal with it. I guess most of us just consider people with something like schizophrenia as crazy, but really is is an illness just like diabetes. There is nothing to be ashamed of, because most of us will eventually deal with a mental illness (ex. depression, bi-polar, anorexia, schizophrenia, etc.) whether it be us ourselves or our loved ones. I really think that our society needs to learn to deal with people who have these illnesses, Our generation needs to learn that all of these things are ok, and need to be taken in stride with every day life. As you can probably tell this book changed my view on things immensely.
THANK YOU JULIE REECE DEAVER FOR PUTTING ME IN A 'CRAZY' PERSON'S SHOES!

Rich with glamour, attitude, and vampire lore, this second installment in the Blue Bloods saga with leave readers thirsting for more."

My Rating: 9/10

I was surprised to find this book even better than the last one! I really can't get over the fact that  Melissa De La Cruz has changed my view on vampires forever. I really love the idea of reincarnation in this book, because it just adds another paranormal effect. When my friends ask what the series is about I have started to explain it as Gossip Girl with paranormal activity. This seems to be an effective method. I would definitely suggest these books to anyone whose a curious mind, but it must be open as well. If you close your mind to the myths in this book it is nothing. I loved how the characters in this book started to feel like friends and how I got to explore New York from a far. I can hardly wait to read the third book :)
THANK YOU MELISSA DE LA CRUZ FOR SHOWING A "ROMANCE" AND A PARANORMAL THEME CAN COMBINE!

Book Review: Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz

Title: Blue Bloods
Author: Melissa De La Cruz
Series: Blue Bloods (Book #1)
Pages: 302
Publisher: Hyperion Books for Children
Year Published: 2006

“Schuyler Van Alen has never fit in at Duchesne, her prestigious New York City private school. She prefers baggy, vintage clothes to the Prada and pearls worn by her classmates. But when she turns fifteen, Schuyler’s life changes dramatically. The death of a popular schoolmate haunts her in unexpected ways. And strangest of all, Jack Force, the most popular boy in school, is showing a sudden interest in her.
Once an outcast, Schuyler is thrust into Manhattan’s most exclusive social circle. It’s members are the powerful, the wealthy, and – as Schuyler soon discovers- the unhuman. They are Blue Bloods, an ancient group of vampires, and for centuries they’ve been invincible. Now something is preying on this elite group, and Schuyler wants to find out the truth. But is she the most vulnerable of them all?”

My Rating: 9/10

I was starting to avoid vampire books at all cost, because I was tired of the same old story over and over. This book was a surprising change! It’s not quite like anything I’ve read before. I enjoyed the fact the narrative was from a vampire perspective, instead of a human one. The author also did a tremendous job with the point of view; the reader can easily pick many characters minds (in the best way possible).  The only part that I didn’t enjoy was that it took a bit before the story got rolling. That said, when it was rolling I could hardly put it down.
THANK YOU MELISSA DE LA CRUZ FOR A THRILLING MODERN VAMPIRE TALE!

Book Review: Shelter by Harlan Coben

Title: Shleter
Author: Harlan Coben
Series: Mickey Bolitar (Book 1)
Pages: 304
Publisher: Penguin Young Readers Group
Year Published: 2011

“Mickey Bolitar’s year can’t get much worse. After witnessing his father’s death and sending his mom to rehab, he’s forced to live with his estranged Uncle Myron and switch high schools.
A new school comes with new friends and new enemies, and lucky for Mickey, it also comes with a great new girlfriend, Ashley. For a while, it seems like Mickey’s train wreck of a life is improving- until Ashley vanishes without a trace. Unwilling to let another person walk out of his life, Mickey follows Ashley’s trail into a seedy underworld that reveals that this seemingly sweet, shy girl isn’t who she claimed to be. And neither was Mickey’s father. Soon, Mickey learns about a conspiracy so shocking that it makes high school drama seem like a luxury- and leaves him questioning everything about the life he thought he knew.”

My Rating: 9/10

This is the first book I’ve ever read by Harlan Coben and I loved it! This book is not only written with suspense but also it made me feel as though I was experiencing everything with Mickey as he went through it. This book is made for people who love twists and turns that don’t want a nice calm novel. I really enjoyed the sense of humor that is used in this book and how Harlan seemed to get down to a high school level of writing. I could picture my high school as he wrote it. The janitor closet, the office and of course the cafeteria are all locked in my mind. I can’t wait to read the next book in this gripping series.
THANK YOU HARLAN COBEN FOR PROVING YOU CAN’T KNOW SOMEONE JUST BY APPEARANCE!

Book Review: The Queen of Everything by Deb Caletti

Title: The Queen of Everything
Author: Deb Caletti
Pages: 372
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Year Published: 2002

"People ask me all the time what having Vince MacKenzie for a father was like. What they mean is, was he always crazy?"
"High school junior Jordan MacKenzie's life was pretty typical: fractured family, new boyfriend, dead-end job. She'd been living with her father (the predictable optometrist) since her mother (the hippie holdover) had been to embarrassing to be around. Jordan felt that she finally had as normal a life as she could. Then came Gayle D'Angelo.

Jordan knew her father was dating Gayle and that Gayle was married. Jordan knew it was wrong and that her father was becoming someone she didn't recognize anymore, but what could she do about it? And how could she--how could anyone-- have possibly guessed that this illicit love affair would implode in such a violent and disturbing way?"

My Rating: 9/10

This is a weird book, but when I say weird I mean it in a good way. This book tells an unusual tale of the kids of people who are having an affair. Most books tell the story of someone going crazy, but this tells the story of a daughter watching her father unravel before her very eyes. I loved the way that Deb Caletti tells the story with a great amount of foreshadowing that amps up the excitement. I felt a little distant from the main character, but very interested in her situation which kept me reading as often as I could.
THANK YOU DEB CALETTI FOR AN UNUSUAL POINT OF VIEW ON AN ALL TO FAMILIAR SUBJECT!

Book Review: The Keepers of the Flame by Jennifer Armstrong & Nancy Butcher

Title: The Keepers of the Flame
Authors: Jennifer Armstrong & Nancy Butcher
Series: Fire-us (Book 2)
Pages: 280
Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers
Year Published: 2002

“Five years after a deadly plague killed all the Grown-ups, the world’s population has nearly vanished. But a group of children have survived and forged a new family, a new life, and together traveled up the coast of Florida looking for answers.
To their shock, they’ve found a group of adults, the only Grown-ups they’ve seen for years, living in an abandoned shopping mall. It’s a world the travelers had almost forgotten- cupcakes, clean clothes, adults to depend on.
But something is terribly wrong. The family must find the truth before it’s too late.”
My Rating: 9/10
I really enjoyed this book. I’m so happy that I decided to continue the series. In The Keepers of Flame the reader gets to know more about the way the plague has affected the survivors and the setting. The authors get far more descriptive in this book and let us see the personal sides of the characters. The events are not as predictable and I felt like I was right there with the characters, experiencing what happened to them when it happened, not guessing what is happening. The element of surprise is a good thing on my list.
THANK YOU JENNIFER ARMSTRONG AND NANCY BUTCHER FOR A HEART POUNDING BOOK!

Book Review: Best Friends For Never by Lisi Harrison

 Title: Best Friends For Never
Author: Lisi Harrison
Series: THE CLIQUE
Pages: 149
Publisher: Little, Brown Young Readers
Year Published: 2004

"In the second book starring Westchester County's most privileged middle schoolers, the Clique declares Massie a hero for hosting the first boy/girl Halloween party of 8th grade. Massie's already hired Landon Dorsey, the hottest party planner in the 9-1-4 area code, but her parents insist she has to invite the entire class. Unfortunately that means everyone. Layne is bummed that the boys will be there -- she IMs Claire that's so "DESPR8" -- as Claire wonders if maybe a boyfriend will make her happy.Meanwhile, Massie and the Clique are fighting over who gets to invite Derek Herrington. Dylan thought it was obvious that she was the one who danced all night with Derek at the OCD benefit last month, but says "Whatevs" when Kristen gets all weird about it. Fine, she can have him. He was a terrible dancer anyway and there will be tons of guys to choose from at the party...."

My Rating: 9/10

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and i think I'm addicted to the drama that goes along with this story line. I have fallen in love with the characters and the setting. The descriptions make the setting in my mind crystal clear. I hope that the next book in this series is as good as this one and that all and all they only continue to get better. Nothing as depressing as a great first book and a suckie rest of the series. I can hardly wait to read the next book in this series. The only thing I didn't like was the way that Massie changed. I expected her to act a certain way, but she had changed a bit.
THANK YOU LISI HARRISON FOR AN ADDICTING MIDDLE SCHOOL CHICK LIT!

Book Review: The Clique by Lisi Harrison

 Title: The Clique
Author: Lisi Harrison
Series: Clique
Pages: 220
Publisher: Little, Brown and Company
Year Published: 2004

"Meet The Clique...
Massie Block: With her glossy brunette bob, and laser-whitened smile, Massie is the uncontested ruler of The Clique and the rest of the social scene at Octavian Country Day School, an exclusive private girls' school in Westchester County, New York. Massie knows you'd give anything to be just like her.

Dylan Marvil:
Massie's second in command who divides her time between sucking up to Massie and sucking down Atkins Diet shakes.

Alcia Rivera: As sneaky as she is beautiful, Alicia floats easily under adult radar because seh seems so 'sweet.' Would love to take Massie's throne one day. Just might.

Kristen Gregory: She's smart, hardworking and will insult you to tears fast than you can say 'my haircut isn't ugly!'

Enter Claire Lyons, the new girl from Florida in Keds and two-year-old Gap overalls, who is clearly not Clique material. Unfortunately for her, Claire's family is staying in the guesthouse on Massie's family's huge estate while they look for a new home. Claire's future looks worse than a bad Prada knockoff. But with a little luck and a lot of scheming, Claire might just come up smelling like Chanel No. 19"

"The Clique... the only thing harder thang getting in is staying in."

My Rating: 9/10

This book is full of gossip and drama, just what a needed for an uneventful day of summer. In this novel we are introduced to a group of middle school girls who are meaner than most high school football players (not physically obviously, they might break a nail). I remember middle school quite vividly and I understand how it works. It doesn't matter where you're from there are always clique and then there are the "it" girls. The ones everyone wants to be. We get an up close and personal view of these girls at the beginning of their popularity filled "careers"
I really loved the way we see the view of Claire, the unpopular character and Massie, the ultra popular girl. This way we see what each thinks is important. I loved this book because of the way Lisi Harrison wasn't afraid to go there. She wasn't afraid to us swears in a middle school based novel.
THANK YOU LISI HARRISON FOR SHOWING THAT MIDDLE SCHOOL IS A LOT MORE HARSH THAN SOME PEOPLE REALIZE!

Thanks for reading :)

BOOK REVIEW: Dark Secrets 1: Don't Tell by Elizabeth Chandler

 Title: Don't Tell
Series: Dark Secrets
Author: Elizabeth Chandler
Pages: 228
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Year Published: 2001

"In Don't Tell, Lauren knows that by returning to the town where her mother drowned seven years ago, she'll be reliving one of her most haunting memories. When she arrives, she is propelled into a series of mysterious events that mimic the days leading up to her mother's death. Maybe her mother's drowning wasn't an accident after all... and maybe Lauren is next."

My Rating: 9/10

This is the second story in the book Dark Secrets 1, and I can't help comparing it to the first story. Both stories take place in the small town of Wisteria. The book as a package was good, but I didn't feel in tune with the characters. I couldn't seem to invite them in or feel like I belonged with them. That sounds crazy, but when I feel like I know a character personally, it's a ten outta ten. That's the only reason that I didn't feel this book was a ten. I enjoyed learning more about the town of Wisteria, and hearing about the people in the town. It made me feel at home in the area. I feel the urge to go to this town, but I'm not completely sure it exsists :(
THANK YOU ELIZABETH CHANDLER FOR MAKING ME FEEL AT HOME!

Book Review: Summer Boys by Hailey Abbott

 Title: Summer Boys
Author: Hailey Abbott
Pages: 214
Publisher: Scholastic Inc.
Year Published: 2004

"First boy. First Love. First time.
Ella:
Peter was watching me all night- I could feel it. I wish he'd make a move already. Too bad he's my sister's boyfriend.
Beth: Suddenly George is lookin greally good in his swim trunks. I don't know what I'm thinking- he's my best friend. Do I want more?
Jamie: Last summer, Ethan and i fell for each other-- big-time. My feelings for him haven't changed but why is he pushing me away?
It's summer. It's hot. It's time to hook up."

My Rating: 9/10
Lately I haven't read that many chicklits and I felt it was time for one and so I picked out Summer Boys. I thought it would be a good beach read, or a pretend beach read since I might not make it there, and started reading. I really enjoyed the fact the story switched through three different girls. Although all three girls are related, not a one is alike. Beth is athletic, Ella is a girly girl and Jamie is an artist. It really gives the reader a chance to relate with at least one character. I felt close to all the characters and almost as though I was in a family enviroment of my own. I would suggest this book to anyone looking for a chicklit beach read.

Book Review: Twelfth Grade Kills by Heather Brewer

Title: Twelfth Grade Kills
Author: Heather Brewer
Pages: 325
Publisher: Penguin Group Inc.
Year Published: 2010

"Vlad's running out of time. The Elysian Council has given him only weeks to live, and that's if the Slayer Society doesn't kill him- along with the citizens of Bathory- first. Then there's the issure of Vlad's father, who may or may not still be aliveafter all these years. Oh yeah, and that tiny detail in the Pravus prophecy about Vlad enslaving Vampirekind and the human race. So much for college applications."
"In this epic finale to Heather Brewer's heart-stopping Chronicle of Vladimir Tod, dark secrets will be revealed, old friends will become enemies and warm blood will run cold. Just be careful it isn't yours."

My Rating: 9/10

So this is an ending of another lovely series. This book although interesting, was not a good series ender in my opinion. I would have liked to be completely caught up in the world of Heather Brewer's mind but many times I couldn't get "into" the story line or even relate at all with the charcters. Which is hard to do when the main character is a half-vampire but it shouldn't be quite that hard. I felt very distant from Vlad until the end. I still enjoyed the humor that Heather Brewer uses even in dire situations. The ending was humorless but that made sense because of the content. I would suggest this book to those who enjoyed the rest of the series and love to laugh of course.
THANK YOU HEATHER BREWER FOR AN EPIC SERIES FILLED WITH HIGH SCHOOL STRUGGLES!

Book Review: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

Title: The Absolutely True Diar of a Part-Time Indian Author: Sherman Alexie Pages: 230 Publisher: Little, Brown and Company Year Published: 2007 "Junior is a budding cartoonist growing up on the Spokane Indian reservation. Born with a variety of medical problems, he is picked on by everyone but his best friend. Determined to recieve a good education, Junior leaves the rez to attend an all-white school in the neighboring farm town where the only other Indian is the school mascot. Despite being condemned as a traitor to people and enduring great tragedies, Junior attacks life with wit and humor and discovers a strength inside himself that he never knew existed." My Rating: 9/10 I know what you're thinking, isn't that a bit racist of a title, but let me explain. This book is the story of an american indian/first nations boy who tells what some reservations are really like. It is both interesting and insightful. For many people, you have never seen a reservation, never been on a reservation or even really thought about what one would be like before. And that is understandable, you don't live in those conditions so you kind of block them out. This book showed me a side to reservations that I never really saw before, I realized that some conditions were bad, but I didn't really think about the violence, or the drinking. And I know that just because this talks about one reservation doesn't mean I need to judge the others, and I don't. I just wonder how there is such a great difference between them. This was not only a fictional story. This story was based on the author's, Sherman Alexie's, real life experience. I think by using something close to his heart Sherman Alexie hit a home run with this novel. THANK YOU SHERMAN ALEXIE FOR SHOWING THE TRUTH YOU HAVE KNOWN! Hope you all are having a good June :) Love, Sidny ♥♪♫

Book Review: Sarah by Margueritte Harmon Bro

Title: Sarah Author: Margueritte Harmon Bro Pages: 364 Publisher: Fitzhenry & Whiteside Year Published: 2001 Sarah's beloved father is killed in an accident, leaving the young girl and her sister with a mother barely able to cope and expecting another child. Heartbroken, she learns that her father's last words were about her. "Sarah's got to be something ... something grand. An artist..." Grimly determined to fulfill her father's ambition for her, young Sarah sets out to become an artist. But the challenge to be something more than a proficient if uninspired painter is overwhelming; Sarah has to work for every tiny step in progress. It is her music that gives her joy, however, and those who love her recognize her stunning talent at the piano - a talent that Sarah takes for granted. As Sarah matures and finds love, she gradually learns to give up whatever future her family and friends might envision for her and, right or wrong, look to her own soul to find the answers. My Rating: 9/10 This book caught me by suprise. Not only did I find that I could relate to Bro's character Sarah. She isn't sure about life and many times I think teenagers, or at least this one, feel the same way. The feeling of being unsure is found throughout the course of this book, but mainly all I wanted for Sarah was to find her calling and what she needed. Anything she needed. This book gives an insight to world around World War I. Sarah is a great role model for teenage girls to have. She is indecisive, and a romantic (i believe) at heart. The only reason this book didn't make a 10 was because during the first part, I felt frustrated by the way time moved between the chapters. I got lost in the years. All and all I love this book, and I would like to suggest it to anybody who enjoys history based novels and needs a little lift. THANK YOU MARGUERITTE HARMON BRO FOR A FANTASTIC ROLE MODEL! Book Review: Ninth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer

Title: Ninth Grade Slays Author: Heather Brewer Pages: 278 Publisher: Penguin Group Year Published: 2008
"High school totally bites when you’re half human, half vampire. Freshman year sucks for Vlad Tod. Bullies still harass him. The photographer from the school newspaper is tailing him. And failing his studies could be deadly. A trip to Siberia gives “study abroad” a whole new meaning as Vlad connects with other vampires and advances his mind-control abilities, but will he return home with the skills to recognize a vampire slayer when he sees one? In this thrilling sequel to Eighth Grade Bites, Vlad must confront the secrets of the past and battle forces that once again threaten his life. Find out why author D. J. MacHale calls The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod “Gruesome, heartwarming, spellbinding.” My Rating: 9/10 In this book, Vlad is entering High School, scary I know ;), and basically it follows him through this years struggles and successes. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't all I hoped it would be. The characters from the first book, we get to see develope which is the wonderful thing about any book series. I just don't enjoy the way that new characters are introduced. I find that personally I find the first book in a series hard to follow up, Heather Brewer did a good job, just not a 10/10 job. I didn't like how fast the time passed in this sequel. I found myself having a little trouble keeping up with how quickly time was moving. I still love Vlad :) He's a cutie. So basically that's my take on it. THANK YOU HEATHER BREWER FOR GETTING INSIDE THE TEENAGE WORLD! Hope you guys had a wonderful Tuesday. Love, Sidny♥♪♫

Book Review: A Good Woman by Danielle Steel

Title: A Good Woman
Author: Danielle Steel
Pages: 327

"Nineteen-year-old Annabelle Worthington was born into a life of privilege, raised amid the glamour of New York society, with glorious homes on Fifth Avenue and in Newport, Rhode Island. But everything changed on a cold April day in 1912, when the sinking Titanic altered her world forever. Finding the strength within her grief, Annabelle pours herself into volunteer work, nursing the poor, igniting a passion for medicine that would shape the course of her life.
But for Annabelle, first love, and a seemingly idyllic marriage, will soon bring more grief- this time caused by the secrets of her husband. Betrayed, and pursued by a scandal she does not deserve, Annabelle flees New York for war-ravaged France, hoping to lose herself in a life of service. There, in the heart of the First World War, in a groundbreaking field hospital run by women, Annabelle finds her true calling, working as an ambulance medic on the front lines, studying medicine, saving lives. And when the war ends, Annabelle begins a new life in Paris- now a doctor, a mother, her past almost forgotten... until a fateful meeting opens her heart to the world she had left behind. Finding strength in the the most unlikely friendships, pulling together the broken fragments of her life Annabelle will return to New York one more time- this time as a changed woman, a woman of substance, infused with life's experience, building a future filled with hope... out of the rich soil of the past. "

My Rating: 9/10

My mom suggested this book to me. I'd just like to start of with a thank you to her for introducing me to such a wonderful author and a heart warming book.
Secondly, this is an adult book so some of the details may be hard for you to take if you are on the younger side.
I really loved this book. The way that Danielle Steel describes the people, places and events in Annabelle's life is mesmerizing. I could close my eyes after reading a chapter and imagine the voices of the characters and the places where Annabelle was.
I think this book is another good teacher. It taught me that no matter what gets in your way, you have to live through it. Taking one day at a time and being yourself is very important. You shouldn't have to lie to anyone to get them to like you or even talk to you for that matter. Your true friends will love you for who you are!
I think the most important lesson in this book is not to run from your problems but rather face them.
I believe this is a book that many young adults should read. It might just enlighten you slightly or possibly not at all, but it's worth a shot... right? I think so :D

THANK YOU DANIELLE STEEL FOR A BRAVE WOMAN WHO IS NOT AFRAID TO DO WHAT OTHERS WILL NOT.

Hope you enjoyed this one guys,
Next book is Eighth Grade Bites

Book Review: 24 Girls in 7 Days by Alex Bradley

Title: 24 Girls in 7 Days
Author: Alex Bradley
Pages: 265

"There are few things sadder than Jack Grammar's love life. So when his friends take it upon themselves to get him a date to the prom by placing an intensely humiliating ad in the school paper, they think they are doing him a favor. jack doesn't agree. But then the most amazing thing happens: Responses to the ad are overwhelming. So overwhelming, in fact, that Jack must narrow the list down. A lot. Not an easy task. Turns out, the girls at City High are quite the competitive bunch. From the drive-by flashings to breaking and entering to cellphone stalkers, these potential prom dates will stop at nothing to snag the suddenly popular Jack. How will he ever choose just one?"

My Rating: 9/10

As some of you may have guessed, I love to laugh. And this book is exactly what one needs to have a good laugh. I loved the Jack in this book, and getting to see what he was thinking made me giggle like a school girl. This story shows the more important things in life, than just finding a prom date. It proves that finding yourself is just as important as finding someone to be with. I think that Alex Bradley was able to relate well to the teenage world. The way that he described the way that Jack thought and felt reminded me of a really good guy friend I have. It was funny how similar they are.

THANK YOU ALEX BRADLEY FOR SHOWING THAT LOVING YOURSELF IS IMPORTANT IN ORDER TO LOVE SOMEONE ELSE!

Hope you enjoyed,
The next book I'll be reading is A Good Woman- Danielle Steel
Have a good one readers :),

Book Review: Keeping The Moon by Sarah Dessen

Title: Keeping The Moon
Author: Sarah Dessen
Pages: 228

"One summer can change everything."
"Colie expects the worst when she's sent to spend the summer with her eccentric aunt Mira while her mother tours Europe. Always an outcast- first for being fat and then, after she lost the weight, for being 'easy'- Colie has no friends at home and doesn't expect to find any in Colby, North Carolina. But then she lands a job at the Last Chance Bar and Grill and meets fellow waitresses Morgan and Isabel, best friends who take Colie under their collective wing and help her realize the potential that has been there all along."

My Rating: 9/10

Most of you people out there are going to think that I have lived under a rock, but I have never read a book by Sarah Dessen before. I have heard her name and wasn't sure if I would like her books from things I'd heard about them, but this book was a big suprise. It was a good chicklit, I seem to be into that right now, and I love the characters. I also enjoyed the setting. Being a small town girl myself, I could understand some of the things in Colby. I loved that all the characters where unique. I hate clone characters!
I loved hearing about the Last Chance Bar and Grill. It felt like the story took place there mostly, and I was happy for that!
I didn't like that Colie called herself fat and even the back description says she was. I guess I'm just one of those people who thinks that overweight is a proper term.
THANK YOU SARAH DESSEN FOR AN AMAZING SMALL TOWN ATMOSPHERE!
Love,
Sidny♪♫♥
