Scouring the wild clubs of the French Quarter, Marley and Gray make an unlikely and uneasy team. But their determination is matched only by the heat between them… and the evil they have uncovered.”

My Rating: 7/10

I didn’t mind this book. I enjoyed the fact that this wasn’t just a romance book that I would get bored with but rather a paranormal mystery, and that’s what really held my interest. I didn’t really think that this book would have so much sexual content, but now that I think about it there is a picture of people going at it on the cover. I did enjoy the characters, and as I always wanted to visit New Orleans, I loved the setting. I should also say that this is an adult book with some graphic moments, not for under age 16, I’d say.
THANK YOU STELLA CAMERON FOR A GREAT PARANORMAL MYSTERY!

Hope you enjoyed this book review

Year Published: 2011
"Sydney's blood is special. That's because she's an alchemist- one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets- and human lives. But the last encounter Sydney had with vampires got her in deep trouble with the other alchemists. And now with her allegiance in questions, her future is on the line."

"When Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she's still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. But what unfolds is far worse. Jill Dragomir- the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir- is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill's guardian and protecter, posing as her roommate in the unlikeliest of places: a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. The last thing Sydney wants is to be accused of sympathizing with vampires. And now she has to live with one.
The Moroi court believe Jill and Sydney will be safe at Amberwood Prep, but threats, distractions and forbidden romance lurk both outside- and withing- the school grounds. Now that they're hiding, the drama is only beginning."

I didn't mind this book. It doesn't transport readers to another world, but rather shows secrets that may be hidden in their own.  I love the aspect of that, and the ideas that Richelle Mead uses are amazing, but her writing doesn't does the ideas justice, in my opinion. Perhaps it would help if I had read Vampire Academy series by her as well, but I don't think it's fair to start a new series that is based on the old series, there could be a relation but I don't want to read a six book series just so I can start the book I bought and understand it. I had trouble following the story line and couldn't seem to relate to the characters. Why did this book still rate a seven you might ask? Because of some of the humorous lines and the suprises near the end. To end this review off witha  good note, I'd like to praise the use of shock in this book, that's what really caught my attention.
THANK YOU RICHELLE MEAD FOR THE SHOCK OF A LIFE TIME!

Book Review: Wild Orchid by Beverley Brenna

Title: Wild Orchid
Author: Beverley Brenna
Pages: 156
Publisher: Red Deer Press
Year Published: 2006

"Taylor Jane Simon is 18 years old and spending her summer with her mother in Prince Albert National Park. The holiday has been planned so Taylor's mother can spend time with her latest boyfriend, Danny, and work in a pizza restaurant that he runs. Taylor would just as soon stay at home, but because she suffers from an autistic condition, she can't stay on her own. Taylor's mother encourages her to explore the park's possibilities on her own. For Taylor, whose life experience has been limited by her condition, this means facing the test of meeting new friends, a test she has never faced alone. Summer also holds the possibility of finding her own boyfriend, though Taylor isn't quite sure how that might happen. The one thing that is certain is that by the end of the summer, Taylor will have to find the courage to be her own person and make her own path in life."

My Rating: 7/10

This was a so-so book. It was confusing and in my opinion, dragged on more than a little. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. It was kind of mah. I was hoping for some suprises but basically the book goes exactly as the description does. Not enough suprise and a lack of climax lead for a dull read. I hoped that Taylor would be more intersting than she was and she rarely told details of things that had to do with the story line. I don't feel like I know here at all.
The setting on the other hand was far more enjoyable. I did enjoy the park and the nature centre. Another redeeming quality was the way that Taylor thought of the future. She was scared and I think that in some point of our lives we all feel this scared feeling. Frightened by the unknown was something that was relatable.
All in all, this book was ok.
THANK YOU BEVERLEY BRENNA FOR SHOWING ITS OK TO BE AFRAID OF THE UNKNOWN!

Hope you enjoyed this book review. The next book on the list is Ninth Grade Slays by Heather Brewer.
Have a good weekend,

Book Review: Almost Home by Jessica Blank

Title: Almost Home
Author: Jessica Blank
Pages: 245

"For seven teens in Los Angeles, the street is their home.
There's Eeyore, just twelve years old when she runs away from her privileged home, harboring a secret she's to ashamed to tell anyone. Rusty winds up alone and broke when his older boyfriend ditches him in Hollywood. Squid has gone through too many foster homes to count- now he's determined to create his own 'sidewalk family' out on the streets. There's Scabius a rough, delusional punk from Utah; and Critter, a herion dealer with movie-star looks and a vulnerable heart. Laura, smart and restless, has run to L.A. looking for something bigger than the tiny town she comes from. And then there's Tracy, the charismatic damaged thread that ties them all together, irrevocably changing each person's life she touches."

My Rating: 7/10

This was an ok book to read if you can relate. I had alot of trouble relating to the characters, it was sad and possibly realistic. But I wasn't sure how real that is, the fact that the many of the characters had left for the same sort of reason. I didn't enjoy the way that it changed characters just when I was starting to enjoy the way that one character described things. I think what kind of redeemed this book, was the fact that Tracy is a very unique character. She was the most interesting part of this book for me.
Honestly, this book wasn't horrible or anything, it just wasn't great. I built it up in my mind bigger than it was.

THANK YOU JESSICA BLANK FOR SHOWING A DIFFERENT PART OF HOLLYWOOD!

If you read it or even if you didn't, I'd love to hear your comments :)

Book Review: The Devouring by Simon Holt

"The Vours: Evil, dmeonic beings that inhabit human bodies on Sorry Night, the darkest hours of the winter solstice.
When dark creeps in and eats the light.
Bury your fears on Sorry Night.
For in the winter's blackest hours
Comes the feasting of the Vours.
No one can see it, the life they stole,
Your body's here but not your soul..."

MY RATING: 7/10

While I did enjoy this book and the ideas behind it, I had problem wrapping my head around the organization of all the thoughts. I enjoyed the fact that the Vours could not be seen and even though I got to being all paranoid about every character in the book being a Vour, but the way that the main characters target the "monsters", isn't a conventional one. I do enjoy the idea for certain of unseen monsters because that makes the story more real for the reader. Simon Holt seemed to have a ton of ideas but some of them just didn't seem to connect with each other. Although the plot was a little fuzy for me, the lines and moments are forever etched in my mind.
I know that's a lot of critisim but that's kinda what I do. I either love, like or hate a book. This one I like it, but I don't love it. I do plan, though, to read the sequel Soulstice.
THANK YOU SIMON HOLT, FOR MAKING THE SCARIEST MONSTERS!

Thanks for reading!
Sincerely, Sidny♥♪♫
