"What she doesn't know about love could fill a book.

With a successful career as a romance editor, and an engagement to a man who checks off all ninety-nine boxes on her carefully curated list, Lanie's more than good. She's killing it. Then she's given the opportunity of a lifetime: to work with world-renowned author and her biggest inspiration in love and life- the Noa Callaway. All Lanie has to do is cure Noa's writer's block and she'll get the promotion she's always dreamed of. Simple, right?

But there's a reason no one has ever seen or spoken to the mysterious Noa Calloway. And that reason will rock Lanie's world. It will call into question everything she thought she knew. When she finally tosses her ninety-nine expectations to the wind, Lanie may just discover that By Any Other Name can still be as sweet."

My Rating: 4/5

This was such a fun traditionally published Rom-Com. I would definitely recommend it if you like your romance less of the steamy side and more about the characters falling in love. This book is a romance lovers' dream. The main heroine literally publishes romance novels and sets up debut events. What more can we dream of. With a great cast of characters and a sweet set-up, I would highly recommend it.

Thanks for reading,

The astonishing conclusion to the FALLEN series. Heaven can’t wait any longer.”

My Rating: 3.5/5

I know there are a lot of FALLEN fans and I don’t want to offend anyone, but this book just didn’t do it for me. Interesting thing was that I guessed in the first book what the plot twist was etc. So why did I even bother reading the other books? Because what if I was wrong and Lauren Kate was playing on my emotions, guess what? She wasn’t. I was really disappointed and had trouble working my way through this book in the first place.
I can say some good things about this book, and so I will. I really loved that we got to experience different sides of Luce, her experiences in book #3 certainly reshaped her character and I liked that. I also liked seeing some of the other characters having a bigger role. And finally the ending was what made me change my ending from a 2.5 to a 3.5. I liked it. It was how this series needed to end.
THANK YOU LAUREN KATE FOR AN EPIC LOVE WITHOUT ANY BOUNDARIES!

Thanks for reading,

Spoiler: Rapture by Lauren Kate

Okay so surprise surprise, I didn’t like this book very much. I really try not to be hard on books, but honesty is the best policy? Right? So here we go.
I think that this was a badly written book series. There are so many things that Lauren Kate could have done and bam there was just nothing. I suspected from the beginning that Luce was an angel (spoiler, duh, unless you’ve already guessed in which case *gives a cyber high five). Seriously, where is there a plot twist? Oh right at the end? Just when I’m about to rate this book a 2.5 you put in something I liked, awesome.
As well I think that while Luce has developed, I found myself wanting to slap her, a lot! Almost to the point where I was thinking, hmmm wonder how she remembers to breath. Wow that was mean, sorry guys, but if you’re in the same boat you get my drift.
I won’t lie, I liked the end, but nothing Lauren Kate did turned my review around on a dime. It just wasn’t a good one. But seriously, the end, the best part.
Main reason why this book upset me, I read five books to confirm what I already guessed halfway through book #1.

♥Characters♥:
♥ Luce: I was happy that Luce developed so much, but I was getting so frustrated with her. It seemed so obvious to me that she was an angel, and even when it got to the point where she had her wings, her just asking if she was bleeding made me madder. Smarten up Luce! I was surprised that she had been in love with Lucifer before, but the ending for me was the best part, the idea that they got a chance to live as mortals on earth and try a normal life was touching. Thank god something was. Ps. Killing people for rituals, not cool Dee.
♥Daniel: I still love him, but… I don’t understand his thing for Luce, in the end yes, but the rest of the time he must be so frustrating.
♥Cam: I still love Cam, he’s a demon so now I’m  questioning his involvement in everything, and where was he at the end? I wanted to hear his sarcastically dark comments. Come back to me Cam. (And I’ve lost it)
♥Dee:  Kinda crazy, but in a good way. I wasn’t really surprised that she was the desired thing, and I was disappointed that she had to die, why couldn’t they just drain her blood and let her be happy. Although she was probably in a world where she could dream of her love. What do you guys think? Okay with or sad about her death?
♥Lucifer: It was interesting to see him betrayed as someone with more emotion than just rage. Seeing that he had truly loved and lost was interesting, but since he just shows up and spys on Luce all the sadness is lost and it turns creepy. But you know what they say, the heart wants what the heart can’t have. That is what they say right?
♥Gabbe: This part really hit me when she died. Especially when she was the holiest of the fallen. I did think Molly’s death was sad as well, but we didn’t know her as well.
♥Miles and Shelby:  I hate that they were rewarded for going through all those Announcers by the angels basically saying, “Okay kiddies back to school with you two.” But at the end, *sigh* real romance. Happy we got to say goodbye to them as readers.
The Outcasts:  Just YAY! That is all.

♥Moments to remember♥
♥Pg.  30
“’Time is faltering in preparation for the rewriting itself.’
‘Like the way your computer freezes up more and more frequently before the hard drive crashed and erases your twenty-page term paper?’ Miles said. Everyone looked at him in befuddlement. ‘What?’ he said. ‘Angels and demons don’t do homework?’”

♥Pg. 24
“’You try falling for nine days through multiple dimensions and trillions of miles, landing on your face, breaking your wings, rolling around concussed for who knows how long, wandering the desert for decades looking for any clue as to who or what or where you are- and then talk to me about the old memorizer.’”

♥Pg. 123
“’You mean she’s not Miss Sophia?’
‘Sophia Bliss?’ The woman looked as if she’d just bitten into something sour. ‘That bitch is still around? I was sure someone would have put her out of her misery by now.’”

♥Pg.  250
“’Have you met the crazy coin-toss guy in the laundry room?’
‘Luce.’ Nora squinted. ‘When I run out of underwear, I buy new underwear. I am hopping to make it to Thanksgiving without having to do laundry. Are you ready? Soccer boys are waiting, hoping to score. We are their goal, but we must remind them they can’t use their hands.’”

♥Final Line: “Then the angels, the demon, and the Nephilim flew off to distant corners of the sky, leaving a moment’s brilliant flash of light behind them, as below, Luce and Daniel fell in love for the first- and the last- time.”

Book Review: Fallen in Love by Lauren Kate

Title: Fallen In Love
Author: Lauren Kate
Series: FALLEN (Book #3.5)
Pages: 151
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Year Published: 2012
First Line: “Shelby and Miles were laughing when they stepped out of the Announcer.”

Unexpected. Unrequited. Forbidden. Eternal. Everyone has their own love story. And in a twist of fate, four extraordinary love stories combine over the course of a romantic Valentine's Day in Medieval England. Miles and Shelby find love where they
least expect it. Roland learns a painful lesson about finding-and losing love. Arianne pays the price for a love so fierce it burns. And for the first -and last- time, Daniel and Luce
will spend a night together like none other.
Lauren Kate's FALLEN IN LOVE is filled with love stories . . . the ones everyone has been waiting for.
True love never says goodbye. .

My Rating: 5/5

Let’s start off with why I marked this book as #3.5. This is because this book does not continue from where Passion leave off, and it only makes sense if you’ve read Passion, the third book. Tada book #3.5, as well as Goodreads might have given me the idea. Thanks fantastic website!
I loved this book. Going through and finding out about other characters was an amazing adventure and book written with this exact point need to be published more often. I feel like this way the readers questions are answered and curiosities solved (Can you solve a curiosity? Sure why not?)  Not only that but these all the stories in Fallen in Love are so personal readers can easily read them and get to know their favourite characters.
So this is why this book got a 5/5 rating from this reviewer. I’m not saying everyone will agree, but if you wanna say what you think, read the book and let me know.
THANK YOU LAUREN KATE FOR SHOWING READERS THAT THERE ARE MORE TO JUST BACKGROUND CHARACTERS THAN WHAT AT FIRST APPEARS!

Spoiler: Fallen in Love by Lauren Kate

I really enjoyed this book. It’s one of those books that let’s a reader feel like everything they’re reading is real. The characters, the events (both past and present). It gives a series that truth factor that I LOVE! I think that this was a tremendous idea from Lauren Kate and it will certainly make the final book more enjoyable. The characters have been through so much and learning that makes the rest of the series more interesting. Instead of all the focus always being on Daniel and Luce, it gives others the spotlight. Other’s maybe you’ve wondered about their past and why they chose the side they did. It’s fantastic. Speaking of characters, let’s get this started.

♥Characters♥
♥Miles: I think he is such a sweetheart. He went through so much to try to find Luce, so I figure we all (ok this reader in particular) thought he must love her. And then BAM, there’s a big realization of his feelings for Shelly and how they seem to just click the right way. He deserves to have someone special and I think Shelby definitely works for him. Loved it!
♥Shelby: Ok, I think she’s a great character who speaks her mind, and ya I didn’t see her and Miles getting together, but now that they have it totally works! They’re just the right mix of sweet and sassy. Hopefully they work out and it was just love in the Medieval England air.
♥Roland: This character is really interesting, mainly because he doesn’t seem to be 100% committed to his role as demon. I believe there is a chance that he could cross over to the other side, but then again he did go through some tough times. I was interested to hear about his past love interest because I thought it was Arianne. Whoops. I’m glad that he didn’t kill his loves husband and take his place, but maybe he’ll find a happy ending yet.
♥Arianne: Holy smokes, where to begin on this one. Maybe the important idea of homosexuality involved with the idea of Fallen angels. I liked it because it gave the idea that maybe things had been that way for a long time and I believe in supporting people no matter their sexuality or sexual preference I was happy to see it. Oh yah, and we finally find out where she got her scar. That amazed me and horrified me at the same time, mainly because she has to continue through her eternal life with the reminder of the love she lost literally as a scar on her skin.
Luce: As usual it boils down to Luce and Daniel, although its not all about them anymore. I liked that it ended with her getting into her Medieval self and experiencing a Valentine’s Day with Daniel, it was sweet and not at all what I expected.
Daniel: He is some boyfriend. I love the idea of the peonies being the symbol of their, Luce and Daniel’s, eternal love. Something different and original. Yay for being one of a kind. a

Moments to Remember♥
♥Pg. 15
“’Riding to town t’ fetch a maid, a busty maid, a lusty maid. Riding to town to take a bride, in eventide, a Valentine!’
 ‘Classy,’ Shelby rolled her eyes.”

♥Pg. 20
“…he held a long, pale-green linen gown with bell sleeves and an embroidered golden strip running down it’s center, a pair of lemon yellow stockings, and a bonnet that looked sort of like a nun’s wimple, made of taupe linen.
‘But what are you going to wear?’ Miles joked.”

♥Pg. 66
“They’d shared something rare and beautiful, and he’d learned that women felt deeply when it came to love. They felt love in ways Roland could never understand, as if their hearts had extra chambers, vast infinites where love could stay and never leave.”

♥Pg.  110
“’I say, if love is rough with you, be rough with love!’ Eleanor said in her bossy way. ‘Stamp out sadness with dancing slippers!’”

Final Line: “But once it made its first early beats toward flight, it had to be trusted to take wing on its own and soar past the highest conceivable heights, into the heavens- and beyond.”

Book Review: Passion by Lauren Kate

Pages: 253
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Year Published: 2011
First Line: “A shot rang out.”

Luce would die for Daniel.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history. Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames...forever.
Sweeping across centuries, PASSION is the third novel in the unforgettably epic FALLEN series”

My Rating: 4/5

This instalment in the Fallen series has a really interesting perspective for our main character. It takes place as Luce travels through time and sees her other selves falling in love with Daniel. It is a truly fantastic piece of work. I loved that as readers we are finally able to understand the love that flows between the two main characters. Lauren Kate does a tremendous job of illustrating the past with her descriptions and helping us understand the world she’s created. That has got to be my favourite part in this book. I was disappointed that there were moments when I felt as though the main character was just to naïve for her own good, but that was over came by the end. I am looking forward to reading the final book, Rapture, but first I’m going to read book “3.5” Fallen in Love.
THANK YOU LAUREN KATE FOR SHOWING A LOVE THAT HAS EXSISTED THROUGH THE AGES!

Spoiler: Passion by Lauren Kate

This series is such an interesting topic for me. I think that the world has moved on from the vampire faze and has moved into one of fallen angels. And some of them I love. This series is capturing my heart the more I read, as it is not only about fallen angels, it includes the idea of curses and reincarnation. That idea is quite fascinating. The idea that there is a chance that humans could come back is something, I believe, everyone wonders about from time to time. Anywho, this book involves Luce’s travel through time. Seeing all her reincarnates of herself falling in love with Daniel. I loved it! The way that she falls in love with him over and over again, doesn’t seem like a curse. She gets to know what true love is in every life. I did feel guilty that he has to live on without her over and over. She dies and forgets him, but he continues living with the memory of her and the pain in his heart, waiting for her to return to him. I loved that the times were illustrated by Lauren Kate, and it brought some interesting historical facts to the series.

♥Characters:♥
♥Luce:  She has really grown up since the first book, and in this book I was glad to see that she was starting to make her own choice and fend for herself. Figuring out her past was obviously important to her and it made all the difference in the romance aspect for the series. I was really disappointed that she trusted “Bill” without any thought. If someone is lurking in a portal waiting for you, and he knows your name, would you just take his advice without thinking? She knew people were out to get her after the Outcasts attacked her backyard in the last book and yet she is still so trusting. That was what really frustrated me. I was also shocked when she almost killed herself, I can see why she did it though. If you could save your loved ones from a great amount of pain, wouldn’t you if you truly loved them?
Daniel: The way he follows her through time is impressive. It must be hard for him as well to watch her die for a second time at most of the locations he lands. But I guess it’s forever in his memory anyway. I couldn’t stop laughing in the England scenario when he walked in and started yelling at the wrong Luce, that was hilarious. I love him, and am happy that his overbearing behaviour is finally over. That was just silly. As well, not surprised to learn that him and Cam were brothers, had to be a family thing. It just felt right.
Cam:  I knew he wasn’t always evil. It just had been a change after some time. I was surprised to see that the reason was a girl. But it just goes to show that everyone is capable of love. Well except maybe Satan.
Bill/Satan:  Lucky for this guy, Luce was really naïve in this life so he had a chance to get to her. Let’s hope they can stop this plan other wise it’s curtains for most of my favourite characters.
I decided not to include some of the passing through characters, because I felt that these were the most important. Anyone you wanna talk about from this book, feel free to comment below.

♥Moments to Remember♥
♥Pg. 60
“’Virgil?’ Luce asked, having a flashback to sophomore English. ‘As in the guy who led Dante through the nine circles of Hell?’
‘That’s the one. He’s so by the book, it’s a snooze. Anyway, you and I aren’t sojourning through Hell right now,’ he explained with a shrug. ‘Tourist season.”’

♥Pg. 120
“’I can’t believe this. How could they? This is my responsibility-‘
‘Free will.’ Cam shrugged. ‘It’s all the rage these days.’”

♥Final Line: “And though she couldn’t imagine tomorrow, Luce stepped into Daniel’s arms and said, ‘Always.’”

Book Review: Torment by Lauren Kate

Torment (Fallen, #2)

Title: Torment
Author: Lauren Kate
Series: FALLEN (Book #2)
Pages: 269
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Year Published: 2010
First Line: “Daniel stared out at the bay.”

I can’t lie, I really enjoyed this book. I feel like, it was filled with so much feeling, not just romantic feelings but also curiousity, that it made so much more sense to me. The characters in this novel are expanding and while we say see ya later to some we get to meet so many more interesting personas because of the change in setting. Another, interesting twist, that I thought was clever. A change of setting so easily changes how I was able to view the book. All of this added up to make one fantastic romance novel, that is not too romancy (I’m creating words now, someone call Websters). I can’t believe that I’m starting to really enjoy romance books, not that I can say I’ll ever be able to read a true romance novel, but I’m able to enjoy it. Probably because its not purely romance, it’s also adventurous. Thank God or whatever you believe in! I can’t wait to download the next eBook and get to reading it."

I also thought I’d mention that if anyone is interested in borrowing free eBooks ask your local library if they have an eLibrary. I know that the Manitoba libraries do and it’s a great and easy way to find a book you might not be able to find at home. Best of luck, sorry for the random chatter.

Spoiler: Torment by Lauren Kate

This book is quite a surprise to read. I know that some people must read the first book and think, “Wow this is too much lovey dovey business for me! Where’s the action?” I can tell you that in this instalment there is certainly more action to be had. True, it is still a romance, and it doesn’t shy away from its origins, it just adds on. I loved that in this book Luce is actually discovering stuff about the angelic (and demonic) world. That she’s able to learn so much more about the “shadows”. That’s a huge stepping stone in this book. And she’s strong enough to start wanting to form her own opinion of her past, instead of always having to guess. I suppose now would be the time to go under the Characters heading before I get carried away.

♥Characters♥
♥Luce: I think she’s starting to realize that she shouldn’t always just believe what everyone is telling her, and that she has the right to decide things for herself. True in the past she’s been tied to Daniel, and true she probably loves him more than anything else, but that’s part of a pattern. What if there was more? Since this is her last life to live, as we’re guessing it must be since she wasn’t baptized meaning she won’t go through reincarnation again, she should be able to choose who she ends up with. As well, I know this might ruin some ideas for you, but I don’t think Daniel is the one who tips the balance between Heaven and Hell, I’m pretty sure it’s Luce. I don’t know what she is for sure, but I’m sure there is a chance that she is Nephilim. I was also happy to find that she started tracking down her old families, hopefully meeting some others would go better next time.
♥Daniel: I can’t say that I understand him nearly as much in this book. He tells Luce to stay away from him, only for a little while, but he is constantly going over to see her and stirring the pot. Why wouldn’t you just stay away. Seriously! As well, if someone started treating me like a 5 year old, you can bet your butt that I wouldn’t take it. She was right to argue with him, as he didn’t tell her any necessary information. I’m sorry but sometimes guys are morons…
Cam: I think he deserves mention. He must be trying to make Luce see that she shouldn’t just go with Heaven, the “good” side, that maybe the demons side isn’t so bad… that is if she is the one who will tip the scale.  He did a good thing protecting her and driving her back to the school, but you would think he at least would explain more to her.
Shelby:  Pretty awesome in the long run, I thought she was a brat in the beginning, but really she had her reasons. Couldn’t believe that she didn’t know that Phill was an Outsider, silly silly. I am happy that she’s trying to look after Luce though, even though she had a crush on Daniel once.
Miles: Option #3, I like him. Sweet, easy going, and obviously in love with Luce, but I can’t help but think that he’s too good to be true. Could he be working for a side, and just not  be telling her that. I like him, but I’m not sure if they could even work, guess we’ll see.
Steven: What was he is and how he acts, doesn’t seem to add up all the time. He seems more polite, kind even. He did try to help Luce find her past, that is before she took it too far. I wonder about him and Francesca relationship. How can they love each other day to day, knowing that at some point they will have to fight till the death?
Dawn and Jasmine: I know we all know the girls who are like this, but at least they’re really trying to be good friends to Luce. Oh, the life of the popular crowd.

♥Moments to Remember♥:
♥Pg. 39
“Jasmine smacked Dawn on the arm. ‘Did you just compare Luce’s unbridled passion to a hot flash?’”

♥Pg. 47
“’My family’s obsessed with me being at Shoreline. You should hear the pressure I get at home to date a ‘nice Nephilim girl for once’’”

♥Pg.  48
“’the way kids here look at me like I’m some legendary freak. Anonymous freak, I got used to. But notorious freak-‘”

♥Pg.  73
“’When you got close enough to see this party, I noticed everyone dancing,’ he said. ‘And I got a little jealous.’
‘Jealous?’ Luce asked. They were alone now. She threw her arms around his broad shoulders and looked deep into his violet eyes. ‘Why would you be jealous?’
‘Because,’ he said, rubbing his hands across her back. ‘Your dance card is full. For all eternity.’”

♥Pg.  104
“’Hell no, reincarnation is for freaks.’
Luce frowned and dug her hands into the wet sand, wanting to bury herself in it.
‘Hello, that was a joke.’ Shelby nudged Luce playfully. ‘Tailored especially for the girl who’s had to go through puberty a thousand times.’ She grimaced. ‘Once was enough for me, thank you very much.’”

♥Pg.  118
“Cam was smoking a cigarette, humming to himself like he didn’t have a care in the world. Except that he was covered entirely in blood and gore.”

♥ Pg. 142
“”Are we breaking up?’ he asked, his voice weak and low.
 ‘Are we even together, Daniel?’”

♥Pg. 210
“You don’t look so good. I mean- you look great, that’s not what I meant. At all. I really like that dress. And your hair looks pretty. But you also look kind of’- he frowned- ‘down.’”

Final Line: “Always.” (Not the best one, I know.)

Love,

Book Review: Fallen by Lauren Kate

Title: Fallen
Author: Lauren Kate
Series: FALLEN
Pages: 452
Publisher: Delacorte Press
Year Published:2009
First Line: “Around midnight, her eyes at last took shape.”

“What if the person you were meant to be with could never be yours?”
“There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at Sword & Cross boarding school in Savannah. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are screwups, and the security cameras watch every move.
Except Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce- he goes out of his way to make that very clear. But she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, Luce has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret… even if it kills her.
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, FALLEN is a page-turning thriller and the ultimate love story.”

My Rating:4.5/5

True to the description, this book is a good romance that involves twists that aren’t that expected. Through out the book I found that as a reader I got to know Lucinda (Luce) and could connect with her. I love that the main character doesn’t have the idea of what’s going on anymore than we do and that makes this more enjoyable as we get to find out some of the information on our own. I do enjoy the idea of good and evil and that is well played in this book. I do feel that this book could have used more description at times I was left feeling confused as the words written didn’t give me something to visualize. I like to be able to close my eyes and see what’s happening. True enough I was able to visualize the characters very well, but the events also matter to me and that’s why I wasn’t able to give this book a full 5. I am excited to start the second book and will be putting it on my eReader asap.
THANK YOU LAUREN KATE FOR A DIFFERENT VERSION OF A PARANORMAL (DON’T WANT TO GIVE IT AWAY) ROMANCE!

Spoiler: Fallen by Lauren Kate

As mentioned above this book is a true romance, and although that is not my favourite kind of book to read I found that this one grew on me. I easily fell in love with the characters and without much difficulty was able to understand Luce’s perspective. I do feel like we missed out on so much information because the fact that Luce might hear it might kill her. That part also confuses me. Why would to much information do her in? That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. I do love the idea of good and evil and although more often than not I’m pulled towards the evil in a group, I have to say that Daniel managed to capture my heart. I guess I’m a sucker after all.

♥Characters:♥

♥Luce: I might ruin this for those of you who haven’t figured this part out yet, but I’m pretty sure that Luce is a fallen angel or something of the sorts, it would make sense to me because that way if she was killed by Miss Sophia, then Daniel would have been able to win. I don’t know if that’s my twisted way of thinking or I just haven’t had enough caffeine this morning, but hey there’s an opinion. As well, I’m confused at why Trevor and Tom died. Trevor she tried to kiss while Tom she was trying to save and only had him by the hand. Dark magic??? It’s awful that she has a whole past with one man that she doesn’t remember, but hopefully we get to hear more about that in the coming books. Should be interesting.

♥Penn: I felt awful when Penn died. I half expected her to come back and go with Luce, but when she turned out to be mortal, sigh. Hopefully she gets the proper burial beside her father.

♥Arianne: I didn’t see this one being an angel, but I suppose that would make sense. She seemed a bit to punk, but I’m happy we’re breaking a stereotype here. I’m extremely curious about the scars on the back of her neck. How do you figure she got those.

♥Gabbe: I’m not all that surprised that Gabbe turned out to be an angel. In appearance she fits the stereotype. It also makes the hallway talk between her and Daniel make a lot more sense. I actually think that they might be related. I could be wrong though.

♥Daniel: It didn’t take long for me to fall for this guy. Obviously out of this worldly beautiful (see what I did there) and he seems like he’s a good guy all in all. I do wonder about his past that might come up in Luce’s memories. What could be so bad that she’d turn to Cam instead of Daniel? And how well to those two know each other? Have they been fighting over Luce for all of time, or has it only just begun? This is what I can’t over look. A handshake between these two must mean something more than just that.

♥Cam: I knew that he wasn’t a “good” guy, but I think there’s something in him that used to be good, but he hides now. I don’t believe he’s the devil itself, but then who is he really and how did he turn into who he is? How long has he been chasing after Luce? Suspicions.

♥Roland: I didn’t think this guy was evil at all. Seemed like the regular amount of bad boy no more no less and here he turns out to be on Cam’s side. What?!

♥Miss Sophia: Now if someone in a book tells a different character to trust someone, should we believe it? Doubtful! This goes horribly wrong in this story as Miss Sophia turns out to be bat shit crazy. I would hope that someone would catch her, Cam this might be your cue.

♥Moments to Remember:♥

♥Pg. 74

“A warm feeling came over Luce as she looked around the library. She’d always loved the faintly sweet musty way that only a roomful of books smelled. She took comfort in the soft occasional sound of turning pages.”

♥Pg. 154

“’If any of you have ever traced your own family tree,’ she called over the din of the crowd, ‘then you’ll know what sorts of treasures lie buried in the roots.’

‘Oh, jeez, please kill the metaphor,’ Pen whispered, ‘Or kill me. One or the other.’”

♥Pg. 275

“And Luce brought up the rear, considering what might happen if she were to give her parents her own personal tour of the cemetery.

 Here’s where I served my first detention…

And here’s where a falling marble angel nearly decapitated me…

And here’s where a reform school boy you’d never approve of took me on the strangest picnic of my life."

♥Pg. 370
“’Roland.’ Luce turned to him. ‘I need to ask you something.’
‘Talk to me.’ He pulled a notepad and a pen out of his black-and-white pinstriped blazer. He held the pen poised over the paper, like a waiter taking an order. ‘What do you want? Coffee? Booze? I only get the hard stuff on Fridays. Dirty magazines?’”
