Spoiler: Not Suitable For Family Viewing by Vicki Grant

This book as it turns out, is now one of my favourites. It makes me laugh... so hard at some points that I feel a 6 pack of abs coming on. I love Vicki Grant's style of writing. She really puts you in Robin's shoes.
I enjoy Anita she is like the mom that robin never really had and you can tell she loves Robin even though they aren't related. I think that Selena and Robin will be friends again. At least I hope so..
Levi is the best. The fact that she thought he was going to kidnap her made me laugh so hard that I cried. Especially when I tried to tell people why I was laughing. CHAPTER 12 IS MY NEW FAVOURITE CHAPTER!
The lady at the library is super nice and silly all the same.
Kay is nice but I almost wonder if she was involved in Mrs.Hiltz plan.
Mrs. HIltz I thought she might be a suspect but i didn't really take it seriously because well... she's an old woman I mean common on!
I like her son though and the fact that he was Robin's daughter was a good twist.
I didn't see Mimi being a Bister... I didn't even think to guess that. I just thought she took someone's identity like an evil toad but in the end she wasn't that bad :D
I like how Vicki leaves the very end for your imagination, like you don't know if Levi and Robin will work out at all! I think they do though because he's amazing mostly and this time I am jealous that she got the best guy ever (even if he was fictional!)
I like how she (being Vicki) created the characters and made them so realisitc!

FAVOURITE LINES AND MOMENTS:
♥PG. 5 “It makes me thin: why does everyone always feel sorry for people in comas? The comatose guys should be feeling sorry for us. They’ve got it easy. No worries. No expectations. No wondering how you’re going to fill your day. (Next time the guidance counselor asks me what I want to be, that’s what I’m going to say: comatose. If nothing else, it’ll make picking my courses easier.)”
Ch. 12 is the best chapter EVER!
♥PG. 57 “I guess I have to tell Anita the truth. Clearly I’m even more tired than I thought I was because for a second there that actually sounds like a okay idea. I roll over to go to sleep. My eyes pop back open. Tell Anita the truth? Admit that I took off? Am I insane? She’d cut off my Visa. She’d be on me like a stalker. Life would be even worse than it is now- especially since she’d finally have a legitimate reason for torturing me.”
♥PG. 59 “I don’t understand her. She’s told the entire world about her nose job, her tummy tuck, her bad relationships, her jujube addiction. So why would she hide some old ring?”
♥PG. 67 “What’s the matter with me? I’ve got to stop screaming every time I see that guy. He’s going to think I’m emotionally unstable or something.”
♥PG. 70 “ ‘Um, sure. A couple things, I guess. I wanted to look up the bus schedule to the airport.’ She waves her hand at me. ‘Oh I can tell you that off the top of my head! It comes through here every Saturday around 11 pm.’ ‘It only comes once a week?’ I sort of reel back from the shock. ‘How do people get out of here?’ She look around, then whispers, ‘We dig tunnels. When the guards aren’t looking, we make a break for it.’
♥PG 83 “Sunday, 3:30 pm Radio Mimi My heart races. Mimi discusses emotional escapism with the world class runner and international playboy named- believe it or not- Joffy Bastard”
PG. 85 “He goes, ‘Are you alright?’ I say ‘Yes,’ as in I already told you that. ‘I’m just hungry. I haven’t eaten in a long time.’ ‘Oh, is that all?’ he says. ‘Well, I can help you there.’ I open my eyes to look at him. He peels a limp fry off his shirt. ‘Dig in!’ he says. ‘I’ve got plenty more where they came from.’
PG. 104 “Kay goes, ‘Morning, Opal! Guess what?’ She’s practically singing. ‘Levi’s got today off so he’s going to take you to Port Minton!’ I do what any reasonable person would do under the circumstances. I gack like a cat spitting up a mouse carcass.”
PG. 118 “Levi says, ‘On windy days, the waves come up this high. They can pull yout out to sea in a second. Lot’s of people die that way.’ I go ‘Gee, thanks for taking me here.’ “
♥PG.122 “ ‘You wanted to go the fast way!’ I can’t breathe. I’m running too hard. My legs can barely keep up. They’re flopping around behind me as if I’m one of those goofy albatross birds coming in for a landing. This is ridiculous. I’m trying to be mad but I can’t. I start to laugh. I wish I’d worn my sports bra. I put one arm across my chest to keep my boobs from knocking me unconscious.”
PG. 124 “He goes, ‘Jeez… I don’t know how many more times I can do this. Would you mind telling me who you’re talking about before my arms break off?’ I give him one of those you’re a jerk smiles. He throws me up in the air again. He goes, ‘Oh boy. I think I’ve had it. This is killing me.’ ‘Good,’ I say, but I kind of don’t mean it. ‘You can put me down, then.’ He says, ‘I will,’ but he doesn’t. He starts walking into the water. ‘What are you doing?’ I say. ‘I’m putting you down.’ ‘Where?’ ‘In the water.’ ‘No! I’ll get wet!’ ‘No wonder you got into Harvard! You’re a very smart girl. Not everyone immediately makes the connection between ‘water’ and ‘wet’. ‘
PG. 125 “ The waves splash up and soak my ass. I squeak and try to lift myself out of the way. It’s like I’m trying to scramble up onto his shoulder or something. He’s going, ‘Down, girl! Down, girl!’ and laughing. I’m laughing, too. This whole thing is ridiculous. Levi takes a few more steps and say, ‘Okay, my fat little friend, the time has come. You’re going to swim.’ I go, ‘No!’ I clamp my lips together like a Muppet and shake my head. I practically crush his kneck. He tries to pull my arms apart but I won’t let him. ‘Gee,’ he goes, ‘I thought it was all blubber but there must be some muscle in there too. You’re strong.’ ‘You’re horrible,’ I say He looks me right in the eye. ‘And you’re stupid,’ he says. ‘You don’t really think you’re fat, do you?’ I don’t know how to answer that. Why don’t we just stick to the fun stuff? He goes, ‘You do. I can tell. What? You want to look like a boy or something?’ He pops his eyes out at me. ‘Good thing you’re pretty, because you’ve got a serious mental problem. Luckily, I know the cure.’ ‘Yeah, right,’ I say. ‘Okay, Dr. Freud, what do you prescribe?’ ‘It’s called shock therapy.’ I laugh. ‘Ooh… I don’t like the sound of that.’ ‘It’s very effective,’ he says. ‘I’ll show you.’ Then, with me still in his arms, he falls backwards into the freezing water.
♥PG. 131 “ ‘You’ve got a really small waist, you know.’ I can’t help myself. ‘You mean, compared to everything else.’ ‘Yeah,’ He says. I knew it was to good to last. ‘Gee, thanks,’ I say. He leans back on his elbows. ‘That’s good, Opal! Small waist. Big… other things.’ One side of his mouth smiles. ‘I hate to break it to you but that’s the way the male mind works.’ "
♥PG. 133 “But did I really have to say I needed to go to the bathroom? Could I not have come up with something else? Anything else? I’ve got a stomach ache. The Mob’s after me. I’m worried about money/global warming/my breath. "
♥PG. 134 “I’m out here all by myself, looking for a place to pee, smiling like an idiot.”
♥PG. 143 “ ‘That’s why I knew he wouldn’t shoot you.’ ‘You knew that for sure?’ He rocks his hand back and forth. ‘Pretty sure. Good thing you didn’t actually pee on his property, though. You’d have been dead meat then.’ “
♥PG. 149 “He’s going to kiss me, I thought. I could feel my hair and my skin and ever little hair on my body tingling. I open my mouth just a little and turn toward him. But he doesn’t kiss me. He just pushed open my door and leaned back in his seat. There I was with my eyes half open and my mouth half open and the horror of what I’d just done creeping up my neck. ‘You okay?’ he said. I just nodded like a bobblehead doll and got out of the van as fast as I could. I started beetling back to the hostel. I don’t know how I looked on the outside but inside, I was in agony. I was twisting up like a plastic toy dropped in a campfire. Levi went, ‘Opal?’ When he says it, I don’t even feel like a Robin any more. I turned my head halfway around and said ‘Un-huh?’ He was stretched out so he could see me through the van window. He had this huge white smile on his face. He said, ‘I was going to kiss you but I was scared you’d smack me in the eye again.’ “
♥PG. 153 “Levi’s probably the reason. It’s hard to be sad when he keeps flashing on my brain screen like some gorgeous computer pop-up.”
♥PG. 176 “ ‘Marvelous! Then it’s a deal.’ She shakes my hand. ‘My… you have such large hands for a girl! I bet you’d be good cleaning fish too!’ Great Just what I wanted to hear. I try to look like that’s a compliment. (Who knows? Maybe around here it is.) "
♥PG. 181 “ ‘Oh. Um, ‘ I say. ‘I just came to- you know –buy a hammer.’ He leans against the van with his legs apart and his arms across his chest. He says, ‘A hammer.’ ‘Yeah,’ I say ‘A hammer. They sell hammers here don’t they?’ I try to look at him but I just can’t. He’s so cute and I’m such a bad liar. ‘They do,’ He says. ‘It’s a hardware store. They got lots of hammers.’ "
♥PG 184 “About the Bisters, People are stupid. We’d probably all rather spend time with a clean jerk than a dirty good person.’ ‘That’s not true,’ I say. ‘I’m happy here with you.’ I make this big deal of his filthy t-shirt.”
♥PG.185 “ ‘You have no idea what you do to me.’ I don’t know what my reaction to that is but it makes him laugh.‘Again , Opal, that was a compliment. You don’t have to look so horrified every time I compliment you.’ "
♥PG. 185 “ He gets my bike out of the back of hi van. ‘You better start home now. There’s still a good hour or so before sunset but I wouldn’t want you on the highway after that.’ ‘Yes, Dad,’ I say. Sometimes I just can’t help myself. ‘Okay. Fine,’ He says. ‘Make fun of me all you want. I just want to be sure I can see you tomorrow.’ “
♥PG. 189 “The doctor treats me as if I’m six years old but otherwise he’s pretty good. He says I don’t have a concussion or any broken bones or any cut big enough for stitches. I just sprained my left writ and my left ankle and ‘gave myself’ a fat lip and a black eye. (Gave myself. Please.)"
♥PG. 191 “I miss Anita. I want to talk to her. I want to tell her what happened. She wouldn’t call the police. She’d track down whoever did this and kill them with her bare hands. Little Anita Martin, Vigilante Killer.”
♥PG. 204 “ ‘Gershom saw us together at the hardware store yesterday. He goes and tells Embree and…’ I’m trying to figure this out. Levi’s shaking his head. ‘And then what? Embree says, you go to ‘kill’ this girl for me?... Why? Why would he do that? You can say a lot of things about Embree but I don’t think he’s jealous type. And anyway, we only went out for a little while. I’m pretty sure he’s over me now.’ “
♥PG. 210 “Joan screams when she sees me too but not as loud as Kay did. (Maybe that’s because Joan’s a librarian.)"
♥PG. 243 “ ‘You were supposed to be picking up some mortar, Levi, not some girl.’ I jump back with my hands up in the air like a cop just pulled a gun on me. (‘Robin Opal Schwartz, you are under arrest for impersonating a hot girl, moaning in public and unlawfully placing your big fat lips on an unsuspecting male victim.’) Levi doesn’t seem the least bit embarrassed. He just laughs and goes, ‘Don’t worry, Uncle Jimmy. Mortar’s in the van. I’m on my way. Just saying goodbye to Opal here, that’s all.’ “
♥PG. 259 “ She goes, ‘My heart was broken too. People think you need to have some big romance to break your heart but you don’t. Losing a best friend is almost as painful as losing a husband.’ “
♥PG. 265 “ ‘You know perfectly well what I’m talking about! I tried to be kind to you people! I gave my heart and soul to Minerva Bister! I invited her into my home. I taught her how to speak, how to dress, how to brush her rotten little teeth- which by the way I spent a small fortune to replace. And how does she repay me? … She seduces my son! She gets herself pregnant!’"
♥Pg. 268 “ ‘I can take care of myself, thank you very much.’ ‘Right-‘ he says. We both laugh. I’ve got fifteen stitches in my forehead to compliment my black eye. ‘Sure you can.’ “
♥PG. 278 “ ‘It was scary to leave the only home we ever knew, but, hey- the new place had Popsicles!’

Book Review: Amy by Any Other Name by Maureen Garvie

"I stop screaming, ad then I remember what I saw and I start again. What I saw was my head i a cage, my jaw wired ad bolted. Tracks of stitching across my forehead like Frankenstein's monster. But it's not the stitches or the bruising like a fadig suset. It's that no accfident I've ever heard of can turn blue eyes brown. I'm screaming because the face I saw in the mirror wasn't mine.""When sixteen-year-old Amy wakes up in a hospital bed, terribly injured from a dive onto hidden rocks in a quarry, her shattered body is not the worst of her troubles. The worst of it is the fact that the body is ot her own.
An over achiever from a wealthy Toroto family. Amy has somehow ended up in the body of Krystal, a troubled girl from the North-End Kingston. o one, of course, believves what Amy says. Ay's drive ad determiatio help her to build a new life, but all she really wants is to find her way back to the life she once had. Or does she?"
MY RATING: 10/10
I think this book teaches everyone a real lesson about how life could be so much harder for us to understad what other peoples lives are like without being in there shoes. Amy is in someone elses body! That's insane. The way that Amy lives deals with it must take a lot of guts. It made me wonder what Maureen Garvie was thinking about. How ever she came up with this idea she must have been really thinking about what it would be like. I feel like she worked really hard to make a point and I like that!THANK YOU MAUREE GARVIE FOR PUTTING ME IN SOMEONE ELSES "SHOES"!Sinerely, Sidny

Spoiler: Amy by Any Other Name by Maureen Garvie

This book amazed me repeatedly. All I could think of was how hard Amy tried to live a normal life and turn things around for Krystal. I like that she changed her name. It felt right i suppose because she really wasn't Krystal. I love Loki and the fact that him and the real Krystal end up ok that's awesome! I hope they work out.Nate is adorable and I bet every girl in the world wishes they had someoe like him. He knew Mia within miutes and I hope she leads a happy life with them. I don't like that "Amy" wont give Mia back her body. How rude. She acts like she deserves it but she totally doesn't. Not even a little bit. I swear!I wish that they had switched back in the end... don't you? It seems like a heart breaker.Ava and Avo always make my day. NOthing quite like a person with an accent!FAVOURITE LINES AND MOMENTS:
PG. 35 "Let him get started on this movie his mom/brother/loser friends rented the night before, ad he'll tell you the whole thing right to the end. Once he gets going it would take a truck to stop him- speaking as one who supposedly knows."
PG. 41 "Krystal doesn't have a father. I do! Allan Ronald Wexford, forty-nine years old, call me Al."
Pg. 68 "But at least now I can go in a wheelchair dow to the suroom. I'm supposed to be pushed, though.I'm not allowed to wheel myself yet, because my wrists are healing. That means I hardly ever get to go aywhere. When the urses take me, they park me ad forget to come back. 'Could't I get a electric one with controls where you just move a lever' I ask. Phyliss in the next bed clicks her tongue at Evelyn. 'Girl wants the moon.' 'Just write them a cheque, honey,' says Evelyn 'Ask the nurses to pick you up one at Wal-mart.' "
PG.69 "That little slut Krystal. She was probably giving blowjobs in the parking lot at school dances too."
PG. 70 "I can't believe this. 'You mean the poor kid's upset about being sexually molested by some creep and kicked out of her home and then you molest her?'
He glowers 'That was a year, before that other stuff. And it wasn't like that, like you make it sound. We were only uh- you know."
'I'm telling you I don't know.I'm asking. Was there sex? Was or was there not penetration?
'Shut up!' Loki looks around nervously.
'Tell me. Was there or wasn't there?'
'Not exactly, okay?'
PG. 80 "When I ask if I can use the phone to call Loki, I see a worried look cross her face. 'Your mother, when she lives here, she was also one for the phone. Talking, talking all the time.' "
Pg. 96 "Seems like there was something about Krystal that kids thought they could pick on and get away with. Well they'll be in for a surprise if they try now. I may look like poor little Red Rose but inside I'm still a tall white uberbitch."
Pg.116 "I had cable hook up, my laptop, great clothes, Cds and DVDS. And the Muskoka cottage. I never realize how privileged I was ."
PG. 117 "'I'm thinking about a breast reduction.' I tell her.
'What? Why? You have beautiful breasts.'
'I hate them. It's like a couple of turnips tied around my neck.' "
Pg. 143 " I never knew where Susan lived before. It's in a part of town i haven't been to, close to the hospital but i wasn't getting around much then. Alot of houses in her neighbor hood around old, but her's is modern architecture.'Actually, it's fifty year old.' she says.
'I didn't know they built things like this back in those days.'
She smiles, 'Those days is when i was born.It wasn't quite the dark ages.'
Pg. 148 " I thought it would be illegal to say what religion and nationality and gender a scholarship is for but I guess if your giving away your money you can give it to Buddhist Abdominal Snowmen if you want."
Pg. 165 " 'I think i'm going to cry ,' she says and pulls handful of Kleenex from her bag 'It must be menopause. Bye Darling, i'll email you when i get home.' "
Pg. 196 "MY gift from Avo turns out to be a big chest, carved and painted with a country scene."
Pg. 207 " 'She says we have to dance.'
'I didn't know you could dance.' I never saw him do it before. He's jerking his head and bobbing like a chicken. I blink at him in amazement. 'What are you doing?' "
Anyway i hope you enjoyed this book.
NEXT UP: Not suitable for family viewing.

Book Review: I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

Title: I am Number Four
Author: Pittacus Lore

"We may be walking past you right now.
We are watching as you read this.
We may be in your city, your town.
We are living annoymously.
We are waiting for the day when we will find each other.
We will mak our last stand together- if we win, we are saved and you are saved as well.
If we lose all is lost."
"Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are superheroes you worship in movies and comic books- but we are real. Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived among you without you knowing. But they know. They caught Number One in Malaysia. Number Two in England. And Number Three in Kenya. They killed them all. I am Number Four. I am next."

MY RATING: 5/5

This book has officially made me fall in love with superheroes all over again (mmmm Spiderman). Pittacus Lore did an amazing job creating planets and things that make humans look so stupid. I actually enjoyed the insults to our race. The setting and relationships in this book make it what it is, a perfect ten! I'm looking into buying the next book to read as soon as possible. This book made me want aliens to be real. And that is really something for me. I hope that the next book lives up to the first.
THANK YOU PITTACUS LORE FOR BEING A CREATIVE MASTERMIND!
Sincerely, Sidny

UPDATE

Unfortunately this site will not allow me to post even though i wrote everything I'm posting. This actually being published would be a miracle.
Sincerely, Sidny

Spoiler: I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

I usually have trouble getting through these kind of books but this one was a breeze. It held me captive for more than a couple days on end (not a good thing in school I'll tell yah).
I love "John" I mean he is probably the next best thing (move over Edward Cullen). I think the way he loves Sara is forever. He'll certainly come back to her after all the books are over. At least i'm hoping. If she doesn't find him first. ;)
Mark being a good guy in the end really caught me by suprise. Who would have thought the same guy who threatened John and put manure in his lovker would turn out to be a compassionite guy with a good heart.
Henri might have been my favourite character. I cried alot when he died. he was like the dad we all wanted and you could tell he adore John and loved him even though they weren't technically related. The fact that he died just seemed like a cruel twist of fate to me.
Bernie Kosar is awesome he was with John since the beginning always there protecting him no matter what. He sounds adorable.
Sarah is definetely the perfect girl for John and i'm not even THAT jealous of her. She loves him even though he's a strange alien.
Sam has got to be the best guy friend any alien could possibly have. He was pretty chill and fought right beside JOhn. I am wondering what really happened to his father though. Any ideas?
Something I read after finishing the book was the author information thingie. LOVE IT
"Pittacus Lore is Lorien's ruling Elder. he has been on earth for the last twelve years, preparing for the war that will decide Earth's fate. His whereabouts are unknown."
FAVOURTIE AND MEMORABLE MOMENTS:
PG. 7: "I would have stayed on stage buy the heat lit my sock on fire."
Pg. 11: "My current name is Daniel Jones. My story is that I greew up in California and moved here because of my dad's job as a computer programer. Daniel JOnes is about to disappear. I light a match and drop it, and the pile ignites. Another one of my lives gone. As we always do, Henri and I stand and watch the fire.
Bye Daniel, I think, it was nice knowing you."
Pg. 19: " 'Who do you think it's paradise for?'
'Cows maybe? Scarecrows?'
Pg. 68: "I have home economics after lunch- not because I necessarily care about cooking but because it was either that or choir. And while I have many strengths andpowers that are considered exceptional on Earth, singing isn't one of them."
Pg. 194: "I start a slight jog, down the drive, out onto the gravel road, the dog trotting beside me as I thought he would. IT takes a quarter of a mile to warm up.
'Ready to step it up, boy?'
I kick it into high gear, moving into a run and then into a dead sprint shortly after, going as fast as I can. I leave Bernie Kosar in the dust. I look behind me and he is running as fast as he can, yet I am pulling ahead of him. It feels great. Then Bernie Kosar bolts into the woods and disappears from sight. I'm not sure it I should stop and wait for him. Then I turn around and Bernie Kosar jumps out of the wood ten feet in front of me."
Pg. 203: "Because we live our life on the run, all I have are running shoes, which is so ridiculous it makes me laugh- the first time i've laughed all day."
Pg. 208: "I could take a bus, but it would take too long. I could ask Sarah, but that would invole a huge amount of explaining, including telling her i was an alien and that I believed Henri had been either capture or killed by hostile aliens who were searching for me so they could kill me. Not the best idea."
Pg. 275: " 'What happens if we try to have children with humans?'
'It's happened many times before. usually results in an exceptional and gifted human. Some of the greatest figures in Earth's history were actually the product of hums and the Loric, includding Buddha, Aristotle, Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Leonardo da Vinci, Isaac Newton, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein. Many of the ancient Greek gods, who most people believe were mythological, were actually the children of the humans and Loric, mainly because it was much more common then for us to be on this planet and we were helping them develop civilizations. Aphrodite, Apollo, Hermes and Zeus were all real and had one Loric parent.' "
Pg. 305: " 'You're a good dude, Sam Goode. Don't get down on yourself.' "
Pg. 363: " Henri reaches out his hand and Six shake it 'It's shit good to see you again.'
'Damn good.' I correct him.
Pg. 424: " ' Be strong,' He says and is overtaken by slight coughs, though he tries to speak through them. 'This war... Can win... Find the other... SIx... the power of...' He sasy and trails off."
Pg. 425: "There in it's chest where I assume it's heart must be, is the end of a butcher's knife. The knife pulled free. The scout drops to it's knees,, falls to its side and explodes into a puff of ash. Behind it holding the knife in her shaky right hand, with tears in her eyes, stand Sarah."
Pg. 427: " 'This is Brandon,' my grandfather says. 'He's is your Cepan. Do you know what that means?'
I shake my head.
'It means he's going to be spending a lot of time with you from here on out. The two of you, it means you are connected. You are bound to one another. Do you understand?'
I nod and walk to the man and I offer him my hand as I have seen done many times by grown men before.
The man smiles and drops to one knee. He takes my small hand in his right and he closes his fingers around it.
'Pleased to meet you, sir,' I say.
'My dear child,' he says. 'The pleasure is all mine.' "
Pg. 432: " ' I don't know where you have to go or what you have to do, but I'll wait for you John. Every bit of my heart belongs to you, whther you ask for it or not.'
I pull her to me. 'And mine belongs to you.' I say."
Pg. 435: " 'Fair enough,' I say 'I'm just happy to find out you're not the dick I thought you were.'
He half grins. 'Let's just say that had I known you were an alien and could kick my ass at wil, I might have been a little nicer to you that first day.' "
Pg. 440: " ' I'll come back to you,' I say, 'I promise you, if it's the last thing I do I'll come back to you.' "
Sincerely, Sidny

Even Jace.Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels."
My rating: 5/5
My official rating for this book is 5/5. I loved the plot and the follow up on the trilogy which apparently is set on wikipedia to be 6 books long (i thought a trilogy was three :-P). The way that Cassandra Clare lets you follow almost everyone in book and has more than one main character appeals to me. I really enjoy seeing things from Simon's point of view in this book imperticularly. I'm happy it's not like other books I've read as it is truely one of a kind. I can't wait to read City of Lost Souls which is set to come out May 8th, 2012. THANK YOU CASSANDRA CLARE FOR YOUR CLIFF HANGERS, AND MAKING ME COME BACK FOR MORE.

Sincerely,
 Sidny

Spoiler: City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

This book at first caught me off guard as I thought a trilogy was 3 books. But it's ok because this book is enough to make you want more. I really enjoy the fact that Clary and Jace are so in love. That's so awesome and cute and romantic... and then i read the end. WTF. I was yelling at Cassandra Clare as I thought there was only going to be 4 books and Jace was as good as gone.Jocelyn and Luke getting married is also really exciting but we didn't get to hear about exchanging vows and junk. That would have been interesting.. for me anyways. Simon hiding his vampire-ness from his mother was a stupid idea. She had to find out sometime. Like when he's supposed to be 46 and he's still 16 she might notice something is off. I mean common Simon your likable enough you should have just said something. Simon cheating on Isabelle and Maia was maddening for me as a girl who has been cheated on, but I do understand why he did it. A guy who never gets girls is bound to not know what to do with two of them.Jace being a "Zombie" as I call it, I mean I love Jace and all but nearly killing your girlfriend that's a turn off. And Lilthe was some scary sh*t! Keeping Sebastion/Jonathan alive all that time. CREEP!Magnus and Alec drama was kinda funny I mean come on Magnus i find adorkable. And i put a k in there on purpose just in case your wondering. And Alec and him are PERFECT TOGETHER!This might be my favourite Mortal Instruments book and reading the next one will be great to bad I have to wait until May :( But I will wait and buy the book because it's awesome! I need to find better adjectives hehe.
FAVOURITE QUOTES FROM THIS BOOK:
Page 71 " That's right act like I rejected you. It's not like you tried to kill me or anything.' Raphael shrugged. 'That was politics. Not personal."
Page 96 "Simon shrugged 'Probably not. I have a dress fitting to get to at three.' 'Cool,' said Kyle, slinging a messenger bag over his shoulder and heading toward the door. 'Get them to make you something in red. It's totally your colour."
Page 102 " 'White for Shadowhunters is the colour of funerals,' Luke explained. 'But for mundanes, Jace, it's the color of weddings. Brides wear white to symbolize their purity.''I thought Jocelyn said her dress wasn't white,' Simon said,'Well,' said Jace, "I suppose that ship has sailed."
Page 120 " 'I can see why you like it here,' he said, making a sweeping gesture that encompassed Kyle's collection of movie posters and science fiction books. 'There's a thin layer of nerd all over everything.' "
Page 120 " 'No I mean it. You don't look good.''This from a guy who has all the sex appeal of a penguin.' "
Page 133: " ' Who says you can't? We can buy you one of those books they have for little kids. Timmy Has Two Dads. Except I don't think they have one called Timmy Has Two Dads and One Of Them Was Evil. That part you're just going to have to work through on your own.' "
Page 144 " ' I can keep a perfectly good eye on Simon, thank you. He's my neophyte Downworlder to mock and boss around, not yours.' "
Page 160: " 'Let me ask you something,' Simon said. 'Do you find me fascinating to be around?''What was that?' Jace said. 'Sorry, I think I feel asleep for a moment. Do, continue with whatever mesmerzing thing you were saying.' "
Page 162 " 'So you're trying to make her happy despite the fact that the reason she's unhappy in the first place is you,' Simon said not very kindly. 'That seems contradictory, doesn't it?''Love is a contradiction,' said Jace and turned back to the window."
Page 170 " 'Hey, do you want to see a photo of Alec and Magnus in Berlin?''Not really' said Simon.'Magnus is wearing lederhosen.''And yet, still no.' "
Page 228 " ' If you need anything...' She let the sentence hang in the air.'Need
anything?''Protection. You know. So you can be careful,' Isabelle said. She sounded practical as if she were talking about extra buttons. 'You'd think the Angel would have been foresighted enough to give us a birth-control rune, but no dice' "
Page 243 " 'I'll get hel. I'll get better. I promise.''You promise.''I swear on the Angel.' He ducked his head down, kissed her cheek. 'The hell with that. I swear on us.'"Why us?''Because there isn't anything I believe in more.' "
Page 259 " ' I have loved you always.''You left me,' he said. You made a pet out of me, and then you left me. If love were food, I would have starved on the bones you gave me.' "
Page 291 " 'She's here,' Isabelle said 'Not that how she feels is any of your business..''I feel a sense of responsibility,' said Jordan.' And where is that feeling located? In your pants, perhaps?' "
Page 291 " 'She's willing to accept that you're here and ignore you. But that's all you get. Don't bother he, don't try to talk to her, don't even look at her, or I'll fold you in half so many times you'll look like a tiny little origami werewolf.' "
Page 294 " 'Good organization,' Magnus. 'I knew the man who founded it back in the 1800s. Woosley Scott. Respectable old werewolf family.'Alec made an ugly sound in the back of his throat. 'Did you sleep with him, too?' "
Page 295 " ' Or there are plenty pretty girls here, since apparently your taste goes both ways. Is there anything you aren't into?'"Mermaids,' said Magnus into his fingers. 'They always smell like seaweed.'
Page 309 " 'Isabell. Lovely, wonderful Isabelle. Could you please go away? Now really is a bad time.' "
Page 310 " 'You are not trivial'Alec flushed 'If you say so,' he said.'I say so,' "
Page 317 " 'What kind of guardian are you? Shouldn't you have gone to the bathroom with him?" Isabelle demanded.Jordan looked horrified. 'Dudes, do not follow other dudes to the bathroom.' "Page 380 " 'Clary.' Still gripping her hands, he pushed her away from him, away from the circle, toward thwalkway that led to the elevators. 'Go' he said raggedly. 'Get out of here, Clary.''Jace---'He took a shaking breath. 'Please,' he said."
Page 383 " 'Poor little Michael,' she said. 'He always was weak.'Jace was panting, his hands clenched at his sides, his hair pasted to his forehead with sweat. 'You and your name-dropping' he said. ' ' I knew Michael.' 'I knew Sammael.' 'The angel Gabriel did my hair.' It's like i'm with the Band with biblical figures.' "
Page 398 " 'Iz!' Simon put his hand on her shoulder. 'Izzy. No.''No?' She looked at him incredulously. 'Give me one good reason why I shouldn't chop him into worthless-bastard-themed confetti' "
Page 407 " 'I love you Jace Wayland--- Herondale--- Lightwood--- whatever you want to call yourself. I don't care. I love you and I will always love you, and pretending it could be any other way is just a waste of time.' "
Page 407-408 " ' You know that line from Dante that I quoted to you in the park ' L'amor che move il sole e l'altre stelle'?'Her lips curled a little at the sides as she looked up at him ' I still don't speak Italian.''It's a bit of the very last verse from Paradiso- Dante's Pardise. 'My will and my desire were turned by love, the love that moves the sun and the other stars.' "
Page 417 " For a bachelor who'd never had children, Simon thought, Luke had an awful lot of kids to look after."

Book Review: City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Glass
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: The Mortal Instruments (Book 3)

"To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters- never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City- whatever the cost?Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine in the final installment of the New York Times bestselling trilogy the Mortal Insturments."

I rate this book a 5/5 it had everything I look for in great books, a great plot, amazing characters and something that just made me ignore reality and dive head first into this book. All the other books were interesting enough but nothing, NOTHING, kept me as hooked as this final book in the trilogy. (Well their is actually one more that I plan to read next....) I hope if people make a film that they potray this book as I did. It's amazing! I had all the images set out clearly in my mind. THANK YOU CASSANDRA CLARE FOR YOUR INTERESTING TWISTS!Sincerely, Sidny

Spoiler: City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

I thought this book was the best I've read from the Mortal Instruments Series. IT HAD EVERYTHING I WANTED.I'm really happy that Valentine died the way he did. That way I didn't picture Clary or Jace killing him and feeling remorse after words. This whole this was just amazing! I can't even comprehend another word for it!It was wrong but in the last book I just kept thinking that who cares if Clary and Jace are brother and sister they're freaking madly in love. And then i thought there is no way that these people (they are real... in my mind) should suffer like they were. But they ended up together ♥ YAY! I was so happy that I ran around screaming YAH for about 20 minutes. Ok so the demon and the angel blood. Would you find that in any other book? Seriously I doubt it! It was perfect. It fit so nicely and Sebastion Oh My God I thought that he was awesome what with the horse and the walking home! I was like awww prince charming and then she won't have to end up with her brother (even though I wanted her to in a way) And then BAM evil I mean, that sucks that he was that way all because of Valentine and his stupidity and craziness! To think that he was Clary's brother give's me goose bumps!Magnus and Alec are super cute. I mean they've had the hots for each other this whole time and they just all "Idk are we a couple or are we just Friends with Benefits or WHAT?" So happy they ended up together ♥Jocelyn and Luke was yet another YAY! I mean he is freaking awesome how could she not love him? He's f'cking amazing! I love him I wish he was my dad sometimes!Simon, I felt bad for him he didn't win Clary which was kind of heartbreaking in another way but him and Maia that would be HOT! Him and Isabelle would be ok I suppose but I just enjoy Maia she's fiesty. Isabelle is cool to just to conventionally pretty (in my mind).MAX DIED I MEAN THAT WAS TERRIBLE HE WAS SO LITTLE! I KEPT THINKING ABOUT HOW THE CHARACTERS MUST FEEL!Starting City of Fallen Angels tonight and looking forward to it.
Sincerely, Sidny

Book Review: City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Ashes
Author: Cassandra Clare
Series: Mortal Instruments (book 2)

"A murderer is loose in New York City and the victims are Downworlder children. Clary Fray and her fellow Shadowhunters have a strong suspicion that Valentine, Clary's father, may be behind the killings. But if he is the murderer, then what's his true motive? To make matters worse, the second Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, has been stolen, and the mysterious Inquisitor has arrived to investigate, with his eyes vigilantly targeted on Clary's brother, Jace. Clary will need to face some terrifying demons and even more terrifying family decisions. No one said that the life of a Shadowhunter would be easy."

I rate this book as a 4.5/5 just like I did with the first book. Although in this book only the last Part convinced me it deserved a 9/10 not 8/10. This book was very hard to follow for me but mostly because I stayed up late trying to finish it. It is an addicting series that will hold you hostage from the real world. I also accidently read a spoiler online while looking for a photo of this books, so some of the shooking turns didn't really shock me because I was waiting for them to happen. (I swear it was an accident with no warning) THANK YOU CASSANDRA CLARE FOR MAKING YOUR VILLIAN ONE OF A KIND.
Sincerely, Sidny

Spoiler: City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

This book is really gripping ... if you don't know that Simon is going to be a Vampire. I read that the fourth book is about Simon's life as a vampire and so i knew he wasn't going to die in this one. Making it alot less entertaining then if I didn't know. I really liked the fact that Clary stays true to her character, there are alot of books that after they're first book takes off the protagonist is changed and altered. (I won't give examples.. it seems rude) How cute are Jace and Clary really? I know it's wrong but it's sweet and they're so meant for each other. Sometimes I forget that they're related! I feel horrible for Simon I mean first he loses the girl then he finally the girl and then he dies (sorta). I thought it might be a twilight moment and that was frightening for a few minutes until I realized that Cassandra Clare (not that i know her) wouldn't want to copy a well to do series. Readers (well i am) are getting tired of Twilight wanna be's. Thanks Cassandra for not pulling that!I really like Magnus and Alec that's really awesome for both of them. I wish that Luke would just tell Clary's mom that he loves her. It's sorta obvious what that could do. I mean what a cute happily ever after.. come on people we're all saps for stuff like that!Isabelle seriously needs to find a man... i mean she is so awesome and nice, she deserves someone too. I enjoy Valentine's evilness it makes the excitement rise because we don't know alot about the Shadowhunter's World so he could do something completely evil we wouldn't always think of. The fact that he's Clary's father (oh and Jace's) makes it that much more interesting.I also like where it's based. NEW YORK CITY. It's perfect!Anyone else wondering what the third Mortal Instrument is? Give me your guesses below!
Sincerely, Sidny

Book Review: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

"When Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder. Much less a murder commited by three teenagers covered with odd markings. This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of deamons- and keeping the odd werewolves and vampires in line. It's also her first meeting with gorgeous, golden-haired Jace. Within twenty-four horse Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in an ordinary mundane like Clary? And how did she suddenly get the Sight? The shadowhunter would like to know..."

I personally rate this book 4/5 and I have only one reason it didn't make 10/10. I guessed the end of part one. Maybe because my mind is always expecting the unexpected or waying the possibilities. After part one I feel deeper into Clare's fantasy world. By the end I was completely hooked and like usually loving all most of the characters. This book shows rebellion and something else I love, a strong female protagonist!THANK YOU CASSANDRA CLARE FOR CREATING SUCH AN AMAZING FANTASY WORLD!Sincerely, Sidny

Spoiler: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I'll be honest after I read a few chapters I was convinced I would hate these books. After reading that Valentine and Jocelyne were married I was made because I had guessed that from the third chapter that Clary's dad was going to be the bad guy but that was just me expecting the unexpected and thinking over the possibilities. After Part one things started to look up. I started to enjoy the book more and more. I did enjoy "meeting" Magnus Bane. I found him annoying in a humurous sort of way. Hodge created a twist I didn't expect. How could he betray those children? I know he was troubled with the curse but I mean come on enough is enough. Even though he's evil I can't help but still like Hodge. He was interesting. Now Jace and Clary being brother and sister... Awkward! I'm not sure if my head is wrapped around that quite yet. I so wanted them to be a couple.. drat! (I said drat? I must be mad) Honestly I feel sorry for Simon. How could you compete with Jace in the first place but then to find out your BFF is falling in love with her sibling (even if they didn't know) that's gotta hurt in the end. Simon is lovable in his "mundance" ways. Love the Dungeon and Dragons references, completely ridiculous. Luke being a werewolf was possibly the most unexpected twist (for me). I was so worried he was going to die it was like I thought my own flesh and blood was in pain. For a few seconds I thought maybe he was Valentine.. but no. Can't wait to read some more action in book two which I'm starting ASAP.
Sincerely, Sidny

Book Review: Isle of Fire by Wayne Thomas Batson

"A great explosion rocked the crowded harbor. Flaming debris screamed into the sky and then rained down into the burning water below. The ferocious blaze engulfed ship after ship expanding the circle of destruction in mere heartbeats. The fire rain had been unleashed."
"As Cat's memory returns, he relizes that he has lived two very different lives: One as the son of the ruthless Bartholomew Thorne; the other as the recipient of friendship and kindness from Declan Ross and the crew of the Rober Bruce. Now Cat must choose either to return to the ways of his notorious father and join the evil Merchant, or defy the Merchant and risk his life to save his friends. Brace yourself for a thrilling high-seas adventrue where loyalties are tested, choices questioned and mysteries revealed."

I give this book a 5/5 because suspense is awesome. This is the second book in this series (the first is entitled, Isle of Swords and you can find the review below its spoiler.) Wayne Thomas Batson has really outdone himself with this sequel. I found the first very predictable in comparision to this one. He added more humour and the laughing in some ways helped ease my mind before I could freak out or be mad at a character. I am in love with most of the characters (sometimes even the bad guys). I can't wait for the third book to come out, which according to Wikipedia, is scheduled for sometime 2012. Looking forward to it. ENJOY!THANK YOU WAYNE THOMAS BATSON FOR WRITING THE PERFECT PIRATE SERIES TO ENJOY!
Sincerely, Sidny

Spoiler: Isle of Fire by Wayne Thomas Batson

If you have read the first book hopefully you also enjoyed this one. As I said in the review (just above) This book, in my opinion, out did the first which great considering some books, the first is huge and the next ones lead to dissapointment. I enjoy the stand point from which these books are written. Being able to know all the characters thoughts and actions makes it just more enjoyable. My younger sister got mad when I started yelling at Captian Ross about what Bartholemew Thorne was up to. "He can't hear" she said. "He's even real." But my imagination denied all that. Is that crazy??? I would say that other than violence this book is fairly appropriate. There's no sex, or drugs, unless you count alcohol (What did you expect.. they're pirates!?) I couldn't believe when Thorne died... I thought certainly he would escape but the idea of Black Beard being in the next sequel only leads me to wonder, what will Declan Ross and crew this time? Will Cat and Anne really get married? Will Red Eye still clean his teeth with a dagger? Will the monks finally convince everyone there is a god? All these questions and many more are sure to keep me awake tonight, but I won't mind because Wayne Thomas Batson has made a great imaginary land for my mind to wander to. THANK YOU!
Sincerely, Sidny

Book Review: Isle of Swords by Wayne Thomas Batson

"A tale of a mysterious island... of treasures and riches beyond imagination... of greed and honor... of sacrifice and friendship.""The Wallace's crew is starving, the ship is falling apart in shark-infested waters and the only place close enough to gather supplies and make repairs is the territory of the most ruthless man alive: The black-hearted pirate Bartholomew Thorne.""It's a high-seas adventure of danger, intrigue and betrayal...""Captain Declan Ross searches for riches that will free him and his headstrong daughter Anne from the piracy business forever.Captain Bartholomew Throne, an infamously ruthless pirate, seeks to destroy any who stand in the way of his finding the monks' treasure- especially Captain Ross.A young lad of about sixteen awakens on an island, alone and brutally injured, with no memory of who he is. could the rare diamond he clutches be part of the treasure?Wayne Thomas Batson weaves a spell-binding adventure filled with high-seas drama where battles rage, voices whisper from the tomb, a long-dormant volcano awakens, and a sea creature slithers in the deep as the pirates race for hidden treasure."
I'm giving this book a 4/5. I really enjoy pirates and I think if they made a movie it would show more dynamics then I could imagine. I enjoyed Anne's character the most she is a strong female in a male's world for the 1700 setting it is based in (if that makes sense). I think in some ways the plot wasn't as good and it didn't grip me quite as much as other books but towards the middle it really picked up and I was hooked. The way that Batson shows alll the characters' thoughts and emotions was awesome. I really enjoyed this book as I have never read a book about pirates before and it certainly set the bar.THANK YOU WAYNE THOMAS BATSON FOR SHOWING A FEMALE WHO IS AS STRONG AS THE OTHER CHARACTERS!
Sincerely, Sidny

Spoiler: Isle of Swords by Wayne Thomas Batson

This book was quite enjoyable as it set the tone for female readers. Being a girl I enjoyed Anne's take hold personality where she lets no one belittle her because of her gender. I can't imagine a better role model for younger girls. This book was found in my library's young adult section because of the violence but i would easily suggest it to 10 and up, as it has no sex or drugs well maybe a little drugs that could be in the second one (Still reading it). I was dissappointed in the way that Cat was so obviously the son of Bartholomew Thorne. I did not expect Padre would die. That was sad I liked him for a monk. If you are not that religious you may disagree about me rating these a nine because they are slightly religios but oh so interesting. My favourite character is Anne as I said in the book review, for her spunk and the fact that she breaks the mold.If you would like to discuss this book please comment by clicking the comment button :)Sincerely, Sidny

Book Review: Before I Die by Jenny Downham

"How long can I stave it off? I don't know. All I know is that I have two choices- stay wrapped in blankets and get on with dying, or get the list back and get on with living."

Description: " Everyone has to dies. We all know it. With only a few months of life let, sixteen-year-old Tessa knows it better than most. She's made a list, though- ten things she wants to do before she dies. Number one is sex. Starting tonight. But getting what you want isn't easy. And getting what you want doesn't always give you what you need. And sometimes the most unexpected things become important. Uplifting, life-affirming, joyous- this extraordinary novel celebrates what it is to be alive by confronting what it's really like to die. "
I rate this book at a 5/5. For different reasons than the hunger games... of course. This book is the reality of many young cancer patients. So many people die from cancer everyday.I really enjoy the fact that Jenny Downham makes you feel like your Tessa (at least to me) amazes me. Needless to say I cried some and laughed some. I warn anyone who wishes to read this it is a mature book and needs maturity in order to read it.THANK YOU JENNY DOWNHAM FOR HELPING ME WALK IN SOMEONE ELSES SHOES!

Sincerely, Sidny

Spoiler: Before I Die by Jenny Downham

Before you read this... have you read the book??? The review is the post above so you can find all the interesting things out for yourself!Tessa is a marvelous main character who never ceased to amaze me. Her emotions change rapidly and at first I didn't know if I would like her or not. I ended up finding her so amazing and brave it was crazy. Even though she was scared, she knows what she wants.Zoey is a pretty obvious character to me. All I didn't guess was that she would actually keep the baby. I wish she had a had a better ending though... finding a man that loved her even though she was pregnant. Adam is my favourite... he stays with Tessa until she dies. He truly loves her. He loves her family too. I thinks its so sad that his dad died though. His poor mother!Tessa's parents are quite the characters. Her dad is so protective and loving, optimistic and a fighter he refuses to lose any hope in her. Her mother is frantic, but in the end pulls through... don't ya think?Cal is the just so young!
Sincerely, Sidny

Series Review: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I'll make this the none spoiler edition, out of ten the hunger games series on my list has reached a complete 5/5. It made me laugh and cry, which i think all good books should do; but mostly it made me gasp. There are so many things you just don't expect that i drove my family nuts with "O My GOD"s and "He can't do that!" They finally told me if i was going to be a loud reader i had better go to my room to do. I warn people though, this is a young adult read. If you child or sibling has a wild imagination these might not be the best book considering they are based in the future. If you have any sort of life (not me) i wouldn't read them considering they're so good putting them down is troublesome. I spent 99% of hours either reading them or thinking of them. It was crazy. So this is my review for.... THE HUNGER GAMES SERIES.
Sincerely, Sidny
P.s Sorry about the misperportioned pictures.
