My Rating: 1/5

Starting this out maybe wrong, I read Peaches in high school and I freaking loved it! I saw that there was another book she had written a while ago and bought it. It sat on my shelf for a while and when a prompt for a book with orange on the cover came up in the Winter  Magical Readathon. So I decided to read it. And the description tells the whole story. The characters were unrelatable for myself and I felt that there were no real stakes. I think that the plot wasn't paced well things that should have been weighed more weren't were as poetic writing took up many pages. It just wasn't for me. I hope that upon rereading Peaches series I can relive some of the original writing that I liked. Realizing that I am older and more skeptical makes me think that I might not enjoy that as much either.

Thanks for reading,

Sidny

Book Review: Love and Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Title: Love and Peaches
Author: Jodi Lynn Anderson
Pages: 243

"Three Georgia peaches are back for one last juicy summer.
For Murphy, coming home to Bridgewater means leaving her city life behind... and facing the boy she turned her back on. Leeda expects her trip to be short and sweet, until a suprising inheritance saddles her with a huge responsibility. And when heartbreak brings Birdie back to the orchard, she gets a crash course in letting go- and learning when to hold on."

"Brimming with all the charm, humor, and heart of Peaches and The Secrets of Peaches, this staisfying conclusion reunites three unlikely best friends for a final sweet farewell."

MY RATING: 10/10

I have loved this series from the start and I think this was the best conclusion to a series that I have ever read. I have trouble letting go and admitting a series is over but I think that Jodi Lynn Anderson ended this one just right! Over the course of reading this trilogy I have fallen in love with the characters, and I feel like I know them. I am a farely humorous person so I think the amount of "funny" used in these books is perfect. I can't believe that the series has come to an end and if they make a movie on these sets of books, I would love to do a movie book compare. I hope though, that if they do a movie that they do Jodi Lynn's writing justice. I'm sure she'd see to it! :D
THANK YOU JODI LYNN ANDERSON FOR THE PERFECT ENDING!
Hope you enjoyed,

Spoiler: Love and Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Hey Everyone! It's fairly late, so sorry if my writing is not up to par. I'll try my best though! :D
I really loved this series and I felt like a three books was the perfect amount to tell the "peaches" stories perfectly. I have fallen in love with the orchard, the people and the drama. This books have touched my soul and I love that they have drama without getting to catty. So let's talk about some characters, folks....

Murphy: In this book she's still as lippy as ever but I think through the series we have seen through the walls that she creates. I cried for her and Rex. I was kinda mad that they had broken up, but I guess it was for the better because in the end... they got ... MARRIED! YAY!

Leeda: I'm so happy for her in this book! She finds things that make her happy, and not just everyone else happy. I can understand her love for animals. They are precious bursts of life! Thank god for her grandma leaving her the ponies. And mentioning her grandmom, I can't believe that she was in love with another woman, not that there is anything wrong with that, but Leeda's family seems so proper it is hard to imagine. I'm also happy for her and Grey!

Birdie: I was shocked when I read that she left Enrico and didn't marry him. I thought they were meant to be... but people change that's the way it is. I think that in this book she found her way, things she loved. She was also held down by the orchard, I don't think she realized it though. I guess letting go and finding yourself are both parts of growing up.

Rex: Still amazing! Not going to lie. I wish he would have just admitted that he wanted her as more than a friend before he left with his dad.

Eric: This guy seemed WAY to perfect! I thought certainly he must be cheating or have some big secret or something, but nope, I guess not.

Grey: Oh my gosh! He is AMAZING! Would die for a guy like this to appear in my life. I love how he is exactly the opposite of Leeda and how he's the opposite of what she wanted and they just clicked! Woot!

Favorite/Memorable Line and Moments:

♥Pg. 5
" 'You'll be batting off all those southern boys,' he said, grinning up at her and also looking the tiniest bit worried.
Leeda rolled her eyes. 'Yeah, you know how I'm into guys who drive tractors and drink Bud Light,' she said."

♥Pg. 14
" 'Birdie,' Enrico said very earnestly, 'I want to marry you.' "

♥Pg. 21
"Leeda could afford to fly home. But instead she'd opted to sit with Murphy through a fourteen-hour bus ride. Murphy felt badly that she hadn't thanked her yet.
'I hope you and that guy don't get married,' she said instead, because seh wasn't great at thank-yous.

♥Pg. 31
" Murphy and her mom had lived in Anthill Acres all Murphy's life, and her mom had lived in Bridgewater since dinosaurs had roamed the earth."

♥Pg. 43
"Murphy looked at her quizzically. 'Hey, how was the will reading?'
Leeda sighed, still staring at the trees. 'I inherited the ponies.'
Murphy let out a guffaw. 'The minis? The My Little Ponys?'
'And half a million dollars.'
Murphy stopped mid-guffaw."

♥Pg. 44
" 'I'm a dead body,' she said.
Leeda knellednext her, feeling her pulse.
'What killed you?' "

♥Pg. 56
"Leeda wasn't an animal person. The closest she had ever come to having pets was when she'd hung out with Birdie's dogs, and then she'd accidentally run over one of them. She had ridden one of Grandmom Eugenie's ponies at her seventh birthday party, but it had eaten the pink ribbon from her dreass and had died of intestinal blockage."

♥Pg. 86
"Leeda frowned. 'The ponies just stare at me. Like they know about that time the one pony ate my ribbon and died. I think they hate me.'
'I don't think ponies kow how to hate,' Murphy offered ironically. 'Especially miniature ponies. I think miniature ponies only think about rainbows.' "

♥Pg. 114
BEST ACCUSATIONS

♥Pg. 133
"Some people can predict wheather it's going to rain or sense when something bad is going to happen. Murphy had a sixth sense about people hitting on her."

♥Pg. 151
" 'Can I name one of the kittens Captain Catpants?' Birdie gushed excitedly."

♥Pg. 181
" 'Don't be sorry. If you're sorry, change it. Say something. Tell me the truth.'
Judge Abbot looked thoughtfully at her, long and hard. 'I can't. I really am sorry.'
'Sorry is for chumps,' she said. 'You're just a chump.' "

♥Pg. 230
" 'I want to take care of animals. Like a shelter.' Ledda tossed her leaf and folded her hands on the back of the bench, turning to face Birdie. 'I know that sounds crazy. Like I'm eleven. Like I want to ride unicorns and have a room painted in rainbows and take care of all the homeless animals. But it's really what I want. I want to be helpful in a tiny way.' "

♥Pg. 234
" 'Thanks for beating up my dad, by the way.'
'Yeah, usually it's the other way around after you've seen somebody's daughter naked.' "

I hope that you all have a great night/day whenever your reading this and read this amazing series! Goodnight

Book Review: The Secrets of Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

"A delicious sequel to the national bestseller Peaches."
"After a magical summer living on a peach orchard, Murphy, Leeda and Birdie confront a series of breakups, make-ups and take-offs. They have to leave one another. along with the orchard that brought them together. But despite their heartbreak, this year's bitter endings could lead to the sweetest of new beginnings."

MY RATING: 9/10
I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
I love a good chicklit! This book shows alot of character and has a few unexpected twists but all and all it's a very feel good book. I love the characters, the setting and the way that Jodi Lynn Anderson writes interesting things between chapters.
The way that everything connects is amazing and it must have taken her forever to plan it.
I would recommend this to any of my girlfriends. And one who has read it completely agrees. She loves them!
I find that the characters are complex but just enough so. They aren't at all predictable but not so complex that you just can't figure them out.
I will warn any young readers out there that this book contains a few "young adult" moments.
I hope that you all take the time to read, but even if your not a reader this might be a perfect book for you!
THANK YOU JODI LYNN ANDERSON, FOR THREE GIRLS THAT ARE SO RELATABLE!
Sincerely, Sidny♥♪♫

Spoiler: The Secrets of Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

This book is a little bit of drama, a little bit of sad and a whole bucket full of attitude. The way taht Jodi Lynn Made these characters completely unique and yet the same is amazing and a complex piece of work.
Murphy: She has changed alot in this book and we learn that she is afraid to get attatched. I know that she really loves Rex and he her. I was really mad when she broke up with him to go to New York. I guess something just work that way though. She feels bad about attatchment llike it will hold her down. And in some ways I can understand that. I really love her lippyness. It makes her the perfect amount of caring and sarcastic.
Leeda: She just started to act weird near the end. After the pnemonia. She wanted to seperate herself from everyone so goodbye's would be easier but really I think that just made everything ten times harder!
She was just down right rude and not Murphy rude, but just mean! I was upset by the Pecan Parade when her mother didn't show up. Her mom is all excuses but that doesn't mean that Leeda has to be like that too. I'm happy she moved with Murphy and that she wasn't home as much in this one!
Birdie: She is such a sweetheart. I feel bad about her dad and Poopie (still can't get over that her real name). She must have felt so awkward. I was disappointed when her and Enrico slept together. They should have waited but he only did what she wanted. I think that she should have never stopped talking to Enrico, they're just to right for each other. He's there for her no matter what! I'm happy that they got back together in the end and are both in Mexico!
Rex: It isn't fair that he has to suffer heartache because of Murphy wanting to go. i think he should have went with her. Never leaving her side seems like the best option. They could have even had a long distance relationship, it might have worked!
Enrico: This man might be my dream guy! He doesn't just want sex from Birdie. He truely wants to be with her emotionally and mentally. TRUE LOVE♥
MY FAVOURITE LINES/MOMENTS:
♥Pg. 1
" Summer was one thing. Summer was skinny-dipping in the lake."

♥Pg. 26
"He was trying to get arise out of her by calling her Shorts. Murphy hated nicknames. She made a big deal of not caring and looked behind her. he had a backpack, a themos of what was almost definitely sweet tea, and a tiny radio.
'Are you trying to seduce me?' "

♥Pg. 28
" 'Do you think in your last light you might have been a hobo?' Rex asked. 'Because you look hungry for a train.' "

♥Pg.32
"Rex took it in, nodding. 'It sounds great. But I wouldn't go for New York. Or to get out of here. I'd be going for the girl.' "

♥PG. 42
"They stepped to the threshold, a little shocked to see piles of ancient tools, farm gear, dusty saddles, and old funiture scattered everywhere. Birdie stood in the middle of all of it.
'Dang, Birdie,' Leeda said. 'If we get all this stuff cleaned out, are we going to find the earth's molten core?' "

♥Pg. 83
" 'My mom's... into me or something. Maybe now. Maybe now that I'm leaving. Or that she's sick. Or something. She calls me, like, three times a day. She's not so bad right now.'
'Not bad relative to Satan?' "

♥Pg.84
" 'He's just so... just... a...'
'He's a cafe con leche love biscuit,' Murphy said. Thay all knew Birdie was talking about Enrico by the stupid goofy look on her face. Rex let out a short choppy laugh.
But Birdie just sank deeper against the table. 'You know what? I even like the letter E better now,' "

♥Pg. 101
" 'Do you think the fried Mars bar truck will be here?' "

♥Pg. 168
" In all the photos where her mom appeared where her mom appeared, it was the same. Lucretia always looked better. Her hair was neater, her clothes were prettier, her smile was more majestic. She was always her own special and superior island.
'Her smile never reaches her eyes,' Birdie said.
Leeda smiled sardonically. 'That's because she's a robot.' "

♥Pg. 176
" 'Where's my stuff?'
Enrico sat up too. 'You're in my room.' Birdie must have looked horrified because he laughed and then said, 'Don't look so worried, I'm on the couch. ' "

♥Pg. 179
" 'All he talk about is Birdie, Birdie, Birdie.. All summer too, before you told each other how you felt.' "

♥Pg. 191
"It rained and rained. Minute after minute went by, and it didn't let up. How long did heavy rains like this last in Mexico? Birdie could hear Enrico breathing, and it made her nervous to be this alone.
'We may have to sleep here,' Enrico said.
Birdie turned her face to him, horrified, but he laughed. 'Kidding, Birdie.' "

♥Pg. 194
" 'I saw you crying, and...' He, too, seemed to suddenly get how funny it was because he grinned. 'Yeah. And now i have a chicken.' "

♥Pg. 210
" 'HOw long has it been since your last confession?'
Birdie thought. What day was it today? January thirteenth, fourteenth? 'Um, eight months?' It hadn't been since before the summer. She guessed it had slipped her mind.
'Go on.'
'I...' Birdie cleared her throat. 'I Googled a couple of answers on my history test.'
'Yes?'
'And... I committed adultery and...' Birdie said it low and fast 'I...'
'Wait.'
Birdie swallowed.
'Birdie is this like the time you thought you committed adultery because you had mooned someone?' "

♥Pg. 266
" 'You wanna go do something? Something away from here?'
Murphy seemed to be thinking. 'Yeah.'
'We can do anything you want.'
Murphy seemed to think some more. And then she sat up all the way, and Birdie could finally see something of her in the dark. She could see the white of her smile. Birdie knew to be immediately afraid. "

♥Pg. 282
"Finally she asked, 'Why do you keep loving me, Birdie?'
Birdie looked at her like she was really thinking about it. 'I love you because you're leeda. I just... I don't know, i guess it's too late to not love you. So I just accept you.'
Leeda tried to harness what she wanted to say. It was hard to put it into words. 'I can't even imagine what kind of person you see when you look at me. I mean, I can't think of who it is you think you're accepting.'
Birdie put her hand on Leeda's and crushed her fingers in her brave Birdie way. 'Just you, Leeda. I just love whoever you are.' "

In conclusion to all of that I love this series and hope to read the third one "Love and Peaches" soon. Next on the list is Soulstice.
Sincerely, Sidny♥♪♫

Book Review: Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

"Three Georgia peaches are in for one juicy summer...
... but Birdie would rather eat Thin Mints and sulck in the A/C
Leeda would prefer to sneak off with her boyfriend, Rex.
And Murphy would rather cause a little mischief.
Together these three very different girls will discover the secret to finding the right boy, making the truest friends, and picking the perfect Georgia peach."

MY RATING: 9/10

This book is truely one of a kind. I loved every single moment and sometimes I'd start thinking as my friends as the characters... and that's not because I'm insane... well maybe just a little. I loved the way that Jodi made you feel like you were best friends with all the characters as it is. I also enjoyed the little tid bits from the past. I felt like I was watching all the events in this book take place. This is a great girl read. If you like chickflicks and you like to read you would most likely enjoy this book. The most important thing I can say is that this book is like A country Gossip Girl novel. The drama is just right! THANK YOU JODI LYNN ANDERSON FOR AN AMAZING CHICKLIT ABOUT TRUE FRIENDS!
I can't wait to start reading the sequel "The Secrets of Peaches" as soon as I complete "The Devouring".
Hope you enjoy :D Sincerely, Sidny ♥

Spoiler: Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson

This book, is a gift to us all and we should cherish it close to our hearts. It shows who we are behind the walls we make. I found that in my group of three friends, we all kinda relate to one of the three main characters.
Muphy: I think I relate most with Murphy she's sarcastic and sometimes even blunt but inside she's a really good person. She puts on a tough front but I always think that deep inside she cares. I'm happy for her and Rex. They are super cute!
Birdie: She is so naive and believes everything.. I thnk this relates to my friend "Beth". She's naive in a good way though, Beth, like Birdie always believes in teh best of everyone and has so much hope. Hope is a strong thing and without it things are not quite the same. I love how the hurricane missed them but just enough. It was a great way to show how great Birdie's character was. I'm unbelievably ecstatic that the orchard stayed and that the got Enrico.
Leeda: Leeda seems to have this perfect life but in reality she's just putting on a show that everything is all right. Which it really isn't. I hate how her mother treats her like absolute shit. And sometimes her sister can be a brat too but all and all with the help of her friends she works things out. It's sad that she lost Rex but I don't think she loved him anyway. I think she relates to my friend "Kyla." She is always worried about everyone else and doesn't worry about her own problems.
Rex: He shouldn't have cheated on Leeda but he really did work better with Murphy. They just seemed meant for each other. And though I don't believe cheating is ever the answer.. they were meant to be.
Enrico: Strange and mysterious. I like him also :D
These character make the story!

Favourite Moments/ Lines

♥PG. 7
" 'Who cares? I just want to go somewhere.'
'Done. We'll hit Bob's Big Boy. I'm starving,' Gavin said, subsituting love of sex for love of food in the grand tradition of all guys everywhere."

♥Pg. 17
"(Instead) the entire Cawly-Smith family sitting at the table moved on to the wedding that would take place in mid-August, talking about the cake (red velvet, boring), the honeymoon (the West Indies, typical), the signature drinks(the Danayrita and the You Brighton My Life Banana Daquiri, no comment), and the wedding song ("From This MOment On", by Shania Twain, vomit)."

♥PG. 29
"She hated talking to strangers. Especially guys her age. Especially good looking ones. Living on an orchard and being homeschooled, she had the social prowess of the Hunchback of Notre Dame."

♥Pg. 39
"Poopie didn't smell like mothbolls. She always smeeled like warm cookies."

♥PG.45
"Murphy woke up to a bird chirping.
She pulled the pillow over her head and then pulled it away for a moment. 'Shut up,' She yelled, and pulled it back.
The bird went on chriping, its shrill song drilling right through the glass and the fabric of her pillow. he was doing it on purpose. She knew he was."

♥Pg.49
" 'What are you doing here?'
'Got caught on the premises. having wild sex. It was so good I didn't hear anyone coming.' "

♥Pg.95
""All the next day the orchard felt like a ghost town inhabited by predominantly Mexican ghosts."

♥Pg. 102
" 'Birdie, I think you must be Supergirl,' he said giving her an exhausted smile. He swiped at a smudge of ash beside his eye. 'You are very strong.' "

♥Pg.103
" 'Um.' Birdie stared at him. 'Um. Do I have a dirt mustache?' Enrico looked at her for a second and then started laughing. Like the time in the cider house, she felt like he wasn't laughing at her, just with ehr. She started laughing too.
'See. What girl would ask this? Crazy.' "

♥Pg. 104
As she watched him walk away, Birdie considered going after him, in a way they did in the movies. She pictured calling him and running up to him and just planting a kiss on him. She nevisioned him turning and walking back and planting one on her. She imagined sneaking into his room in a few minutes and kissing him then."

♥PG. 105
"The view was enough to make a person think that God was smiling on Horatio Balmeade. he would never have to worry about frost, unless it might kill his imported pine trees, which had no business being in Georgia in the first place. A person could assume that his club would never have any problems, that it would always be perfect, and that at some point it was inevitable it would swallow up the mess of the orchard.
But Birdie saw it differently.
She took it as a good omen that the sun, though it was shining on Horatio Balmeade and all of his glittereing property was the exact same color every morning. That is, it was the exact same color of peaches."

♥Pg. 119
" Birdie stayed on teh floor a long time. If her dad had given up and her mom had given up, then how could she hold things together on her own?"

♥Pg. 121
"Behind her, Allan Brewer, who she'd let touch her boobs in tenth grade, pushed on her bun from behind and whispered, 'Beep beep.' She lifted her hadn behind her back and gave hime the finger.
On their way out of class, Allan caught up with her. 'Hey Murphy, why'd you flick me off?'
'That's what I do to people who annoy me."
'Listen, I'm having people over tonight...'
'And you're wondering if I can come over so you can give me whiskey and Gatorade and try to feel me up. At which point I'll smack you.'
'You're riight about everyithing but the slapping part.' Allan grinned."

♥Pg. 125 BEST LETTER EVER

♥Pg. 131
"Murphy looked at Leeda. 'See you pissed her off. Your cousin's a total powder keg.'
Leeda scowled at her back as she walked on ahead. Bridie wasn't a powder keg. She wasn't even a firecracker. She was maybe, at most, a sparkler."

♥Pg. 136
"When she looked up, her dad was at the bottom of the stairs.
'What are you doing?' he demanded.
Birdie froze. 'Um, just... making sure everybody has what they need. What... are you doing?'
Walter relxed a bit. 'I came to look for you.' "

♥Pg.161
"Everey nigth seh was shocked by the many uses of peaches. The women knew how to make anything out of them -peach-and-pecan soup, peach salsa, peach-and-onion fritters, peach-and-amaretto jelly."

♥PG. 195
" 'Those trees are so ugly,' Birdie said distastefully, pointing to the skinny Italian pines. leeda had always thought they were pretty, but now, she realized her taste had shifted. They didn't look ugly to her. But they didn't look right either.
'I'd like to stick one of those trees up Horatio Balmeade's butt,' Murphy said casually and Birdie giggled."

♥PG. 214
" 'Birdie he likes you. Why wouldn't he? You're beautiful, you're funny, you're sweet.'
'You have the best hair,' Murphy added.
Ledda nodded in agreement. 'You pick a mean peach. You know how to do all this farm stuff that makes you look cool. You're a steel magnolia.' "

♥Pg. 237
" 'Do you guys know we have a hugefreezer in the back of the house?'
'Are we gonna put his body in it?' Murphy joked."

♥Pg.239
" 'I love this lake. I plan to honor it this last time by swimming in it naked.' "

♥Pg. 283
" 'Do you think we might die?' Leeda asked. nobody answered. 'Because in case we do, I think we should have one of those deep talks where we spill our guts to each other.'
Birdie and Murphy looked at her for a second. And then they brust out laughing, sor of despereatly.
'You're such a dork,' Birdie said. "

♥Pg. 300
"Murphy,
You may notice I'm sending you a CD of all the crappy music you like. I'm also sending you my ex-boyfriend. I think he belongs to you."

Hope you enjoyed.
