 Kate’s Rating: 3/5

♥The Interview ♥

  1. What drew you to this book?
♥ The title, also I’ve read other books by R.L Stine that I really enjoyed.

Q. What do you enjoy most about the horror genre?

♥The thrill I get from reading. I love suspense.

Q. Based on other books you’ve read by R.L Stine would you say this is one of your favourites? If not, what’s your favourite and why?

♥Honestly, I would have to say this is not one of his better books. Although I did like it, it wasn’t as good as some others I’ve read. My favourite would have to be Twisted because there was a ton of suspense.

Q. Favourite part of this novel?

♥ When the characters went roller skating.

Q. Favourite character?

♥ I like Hillary a lot because of her spunk.

Q. If you could say anything to the author what would it be?

♥ I would suggest a bigger thrill content. Although it did have moments of suspense, it didn’t have all I had hoped for.

Q. What did you feel was the best done?

♥ I felt that the setting was easy to visualize. When I closed my eyes I could really see Shadyside.

Q. Who would you recommend this book for?

♥ Firstly, I would like to mention that I got this book from the Young Adult section at my library,       so I would have to say that this book is meant for an older group. Secondly, personally I think if you like the horror aspect of books this is a pretty decent first read if you don’t’ want to jump in all the way.

SPOILER♥Moments to Remember♥SPOILER
      ♥Pg. 25

“’Why?’ Hillary demanded. ‘Why’d they suspend him?’
Vincent grinned at us. ‘Al rolled up his English term paper and smoked it in front of Mrs. Hirsch.’”

♥Pg. 52

“’Didn’t you used to baby-sit for those twins?’ Hillary asked as I skated up beside her.
I nodded. ‘I just fell on one of them,’ I told her. ‘But not hard enough!’”

Thanks so much for reading,

Love,

Sidny xoxo

Kate's Choice: School of Fear by Gitty Daneshvari

"Everyone's afraid of something...
Madeleine Masterson is deathly afraid of bugs, especially spiders.
Theodore Bartholomew is petrified of dying.
Lulu Punchalower is scared of confined spaces.
Garrison Feldman is terrified of deep water.

Which is why this may be the scariest summer of their lives.
Worse than detention or summer school. Even worse than the
orthodontist. The foursome must face their phobias at the
exclusive and elusive School of Fear. The school is unusual, to say
the least. But "terrifying" would be a more accurate description.

The curriculum is simple: Conquer your fears in six weeks
or find out just how frightening failing can be. "

KATE'S RATING: 10/10

♥I heard it was a good read.

2) Who is your favorite character and why?
♥Mrs. Wellington, because she is strange in an awesome way.

3) Which part is best in the book?
♥The setting because the way that Gitty Daneshvari describes the school is so cool.

4) What is your biggest fear?
♥I am terrified of ghosts.

5)What is your fave part?
♥When they do history... I don't want to give it away!

6) What is your least favorite part?
♥When they go to the B&B.

7) Who would you recommend it to?
♥Fans of the Lemony Snikket's "Serries of Unfortunate Events."

8) Did you enjoy the second book? Was it better, worse or the same as this one?

Kate's Choice: Luv ya Bunches by Lauren Myracle

"In this fresh, funny new series, four girls discover that the best friendships happen by accident."
"A chance collision on the first day of fifth grade brings together four girls with something special in common.
First there's new girl Violet, who asks for directions...
Then there's bouncy Katie-Rose, who gestures a little too enthusiastically...
Then there's quiet Yasaman, who passes by at the wrong moment...
And then there's popular girl Camilla, who takes a spectacular tumble, along with the precious contents of her backpack...
How her lucky bobble-head turtle ends up as part of a sinister plot devised by the queen bee Medusa- er, Modessa- is a BIG MESSY MESS that the four "flowers" must get to the bottom of together. Along the way, they'll discover something even more exciting: friendship."

This is the first ever Kate's Choice and it's in honor of my sister and her awesome reading. This is for all those preteens out there who aren't quite at the young adult age yet. Hope you enjoy it. I interviewed my sister about what she thinks about this book.... sooo.... here we go!

Why did you enjoy this book?
I like it because it's from many girls' points of view and their all around my age. It helped me explore different cultures and walks of life.

Who would you recommend it to?
Every girl around my age... I'm 10.

Why did you decide to read this book?
The way it described the girls on the back it seemed fun and a great way to experience new culture.

Do you plan on reading the next book?
Yes, I do!

*What's your favourite part?* SPOILER ALERT
My favourite part is when you find out what happened to Violet's mom.

*What's your least favourite part?* SPOILER ALERT
My least favourite part is when Modessa accuses Katie-Rose of stealing Tally the Turtle.

Who's your favourite character?
My fave character is Yasamine, because she seems shy, but once you get to know her you see a whole nother side.

What's your favorite part about the book itself?
The way it's written makes it fairly easy to understand and everyone's feelings are well expressed.

Who do you relate most with?
Katie-Rose because it's very easy to understand what she's thinking and what she means.

Finally, out of ten, what do you rate this book?
9.5/10. It' isn't quite a ten because some parts didn't make sense to me. Most of it was easy to understand but i wish they would have explained the cultures more.

Thanks all for reading :D
Sincerely,
Sidny
